Quick info
About The Dhabba
The Dhabba is an Indian restaurant at 44 Candleriggs in Glasgow's Merchant City, cooking North Indian food since 2002. The entire kitchen is nut-free, so guests avoiding nuts can order from the full menu. Tandoori dishes and chaats sit alongside slow-cooked curries and biryanis, and the clay oven turns out freshly baked breads. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options are part of the menu too. Lunch and dinner are both served, and a private dining option is available for groups. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the food, naming chicken tikka masala, daal, butter chicken, lamb dishes, and a chicken biryani, and one reports there was not a single miss. Starters draw close attention too, particularly the vada pav, which one reviewer rates above versions eaten in Mumbai, and the dahi vada, described as light and refreshing. Lunch with cocktails and wine comes up in several reviews, with drinks called reasonably priced and the Dark 'n' Stormy singled out by one regular. Another reviewer enjoyed an afternoon tea where staff explained each dish, and praised the desserts. Staff are described as friendly, helpful, and accommodating, including over a booking confirmation mix-up. Portions draw mixed comments. Some call them generous, while one reviewer finds them smaller and suggests ordering more rather than less. Another notes a single server covering several tables on a quiet Monday evening. Two reviewers close on the same detail: staff carefully packing leftovers, or a late order, into takeaway boxes.

“We went here as a foursome on a Monday early evening. The food was very good and it seemed that there was only one server who was very efficient serving several tables. When I went to the toilet it wasn’t a good reflection to see dirty plates piled up in the corridor and they are obviously cutting back on staff in the quiet periods. Very good value and would return when next in Glasgow.”

“Great food. Easy to order. Nice service. Good people. I'd recommend to order more rather than less. Portions are smaller. Really enjoyed it.”

“Visited yesterday with my wife and had an excellent lunch with cocktails and wine too. Retirement life is good 😊. We’re never been disappointed at Dhabba as the food is delicious and served by friendly and helpful staff. I was surprised that the restaurant was not busy as I would have expected given the quality of the food and large number of visitors into the city for the Commonwealth Games. They’re missing out on a real treat. The drinks are also very reasonably priced and can vouch for the Dark ‘n’ Stormy cocktail. A firm favourite for us. Look forward to our next visit.”

“We had a 2pm booking on a Tuesday and the restaurant was nice and quiet. We had the 2 course lunch with a cocktail each. These were prepared from scratch. Food is delicious with excellent portion size. Staff were very accommodating and helpful over a booking issue where I didn't realise there was a 24 hr grace period for the booking confirmation by the restaurant. (I'd booked it late on the Monday). We will go back definitely.”

“This place was unreal! We went for mothers day and got a 5pm afternoon tea deal and it was truly delicious. The staff were so attentive and explained each individual dish and how to eat them etc. The dessers were gorgous aswell. Would highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back to try the dinner menu!”
