About Namaste by Delhi Darbar
Namaste by Delhi Darbar is a modern Indian restaurant in Glasgow, on the first floor of the St Enoch Centre. The kitchen has been feeding the city since 1990, and its cooking comes from a third-culture upbringing shaped by Irn-Bru, bhangra, Bollywood and a grandfather's chai. Starters include masala chicken wings, and chicken tikka is served as its own dish and as part of a mix grill. Curries arrive with basmati or pilau rice. For drinks, the Mango & Ginger Lassi is on the list. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the chai, with one calling the masala chai rich and aromatic and another saying a chai tasted like dessert. Close behind are the chicken dishes: Chicken Korma with its coconut flavour, chicken butter masala, chicken tikka, and chicken pakora naan wraps, plus pani puri and a spiced apple and pear mojito. Staff are described as lovely, welcoming, and attentive in several reviews, and even a critical reviewer called them the best part. Two reviewers who travelled from Edinburgh describe a rude front desk, being told the kitchen would close soon after a late booking, only 2 of 5 mango lassis arriving, Shahi Paneer overloaded with cardamom, Garlic Chicken that tasted like pickles, and greasy naans. Others report slow waits to order, an automatic 11% service charge, a mix grill with tiny portions, and an overpowering menthol-like smell. One Edinburgh diner says that when they told a waiter the food disappointed, he apologised and walked away without offering to replace the dishes.

“Very disappointing experience. We travelled all the way from Edinburgh after booking a table for 8:45 PM on 2/8/2026, but when we arrived the staff couldn’t even find our booking. After refreshing the system, they found it and then told us the kitchen would close at 9:15 PM and the restaurant at 9:30 PM. If that’s the case, why accept bookings at 8:45? The lady at the front desk was very rude, had a lot of attitude, and wasn’t welcoming at all. We ordered 5 Mango Lassis, 2 Samosas, Chicken Tikka, Shahi Paneer, Garlic Chicken, Chicken Madras, and 6 Plain Naans (£114 total). They only served 2 lassis at first, the Garlic Chicken tasted like pickles, the Shahi Paneer was overloaded with cardamom (elaichi), and the plain naan was greasy with butter. To make things worse, they were still seating new customers around 9:10 PM. We spent £114 and left disappointed. I work in hospitality myself, so I know what good customer service looks like, and this wasn’t it. I wouldn’t recommend this place.”

“Very disappointing experience at Namaste by Delhi Darbar, Glasgow. We booked a table for 8:45 PM today 2/08/26 and arrived at 8:50 PM. Instead of welcoming us, the waitress was rude from the moment we entered. She couldn't find our booking at first, then immediately told us the kitchen would close at 9:15 PM making us feel rushed. If the kitchen closes that early, why accept our booking? What was even more surprising was that they seated new customers after 9:10 PM. The waitress had no smile, spoke rudely, ignored our requests, showing attitude and even got our order wrong by bringing only 2 mango lassis instead of the 5 we ordered. The food was very disappointing. The Shahi Paneer was overloaded with cardamom, the Garlic Chicken tasted sour like pickle, and the plain naans were covered in butter/oil. We were all very hungry, which is the only reason we managed to eat a little of the food. Otherwise, we would have left it untouched. A waiter later came to ask how the food was. We honestly shared our experience, but instead of offering to replace the dishes he simply said, Sorry for your bad experienceand walked away. We travelled all the way from Edinburgh after reading the good reviews, but left feeling unwelcome and disappointed. The owner should seriously improve both the customer service and food quality. I would not recommend this restaurant. Thank you for ruining our friendship day..”

“Had a wonderful dining experience at Namaste by Delhi Darbar! The food was absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavors, and every dish was prepared to perfection. A special mention goes to the masala chai—rich, aromatic, and one of the best I’ve had. It was the perfect way to end the meal. The service was equally outstanding. Jaslin was incredibly warm, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. Her friendly attitude and excellent hospitality made the experience even more enjoyable”

“The food was a mixed experience. We ordered two curries, and the Chicken Korma was definitely the standout dish. The coconut flavor worked really well with the curry, and it paired perfectly with the rice. The Mango & Ginger Lassi was also refreshing and enjoyable. For starters, I would recommend the pani puri, which came filled with yogurt, potatoes, and chickpeas and had a great balance of textures and flavors. However, the other small plates we tried were fairly underwhelming and not something I would order again. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. We waited over 10 minutes just to place our order, and there were also long waits for the food and later for the bill. What made this more disappointing was that the restaurant automatically added an 11% service charge. We paid it, but based on our experience, I did not feel the level of service justified the extra charge. There were also several small details that affected the experience. My Mango & Ginger Lassi was served with some of the drink spilled down the outside of the glass, and I had to wipe it clean myself. When we paid in cash, our change was not returned straight away, and it seemed like the staff member had to go to the back to get it, which added to the delay. The seating arrangement was also a bit odd. We visited in the afternoon when the restaurant was fairly quiet and there were several more spacious tables available, but we were initially seated in a corner. One side of the seating had a panel behind it, meaning the chairs could not be pulled out properly, so my friend and I were squeezed together on the same side of the table. We were only moved after my friend raised the issue. One final question: is water only available on request? We were never offered any water during our visit, which felt unusual compared to most restaurants. Overall, the Chicken Korma was excellent, but the slow service, seating issues, and automatic service charge made the experience less enjoyable than it could have been. If the restaurant is struggling to keep up with service, it may be worth considering adding more staff.”
