About Tinderbox
On Provan Walk in Glasgow, Tinderbox is a coffee shop where customers order at the counter and receive a buzzer that lights and vibrates once the order is ready. Cakes sit in open cabinets alongside sandwiches offered as part of a meal deal. The counter takes walk-ins only, with no reservations, and the shop opens daily. A step-free entrance welcomes visitors with mobility needs, and dogs are welcome inside. Outdoor seating extends the space for those who prefer to sit outside. The format keeps things straightforward, with customers finding their own table after collecting their order at the counter.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly, helpful staff are what reviewers praise most. One describes a worker bringing the order to the table for a parent with a sleeping baby, and another says a drink off the menu was made on request. The buzzer handset that lights and vibrates when an order is ready also earns a mention, as does a cheese and tomato sauce focaccia with mayo dip. Coffee splits opinion. Some call it good quality, while others report a burnt-tasting latte, a flat white described as the smallest they had had, and a drink that stayed too hot to sip long after it was poured. Bought-in cakes are called a great selection by some, but others found them dry, warm, soggy, or brick hard in the case of the cannoli. One regular says the sandwiches turned tasteless after a supplier change, with crisps and mayo dropped from the meal deal. Reviewers also mention a filthy floor, leftovers on tables, and dirty cutlery, and the hot coffee reviewer says staff still required payment for a replacement.

“The smallest flat white I've ever had in a coffee shop in the UK. More like a Spanish cafe con leche although tinderbox charge £3.95 not €1.20!! And it wasn't even that nice. Would never return or recommend”

“Coffee given was far too hot, burnt tongue upon trying it. Left it for 20 minutes and still too hot when it accidentally spilled. Upon coming back the staff was not very customer focussed, stated I had to pay for another drink. They made excuses that there is a warning on the cup for it being to hot but no coffee should be undrinkable for 20 minutes. Apparently the coffee machine makes the coffee too hot which shows the barista inexperience. All other coffees before have been fine and the one after too. Staff tried to make excuses rather than accept coffee was hot or simply offer customer a drink. I did pay but the attitude and carefree staff had no discretion and other cafes often make a new drink regardless. The staff looked disinterested and more wanted to stand there ground. First drink was completely unsatisfactory as coffee should not be undrinkable do 20 minutes, milk tasted burnt too.”

“Went in for cake and coffee and received lovely service. Our cakes were a bit dry, a hazard of open cabinets and going late in the afternoon, I guess, but the staff were very helpful.”

“It was a 4-5 star but they’ve since switched to a new supplier that makes the most tasteless sandwiches you can imagine and they’ve also upped the price AND remove the crisps and mayo as part of the meal deal. I’m afraid my business there is done.”

“Been coming to this Tinderbox location for some time and have always been pleased with the service. Today however, the service won them a review. I placed my order at the counter and as the man was about to give me the buzzer he said “wait never mind. You go sit and relax and I’ll bring it to you”, because I had my sleeping baby in the stroller with me. To the man who attended me, thank you for going above and beyond. Being so attentive is exactly what customer service is about. It really meant so much to me. I also recommend their cheese and tomato sauce focaccia with their delicious mayo dip.”
