About Canton Lane
Canton Lane is a Chinese restaurant at 339 Dumbarton Rd in Glasgow, built around claypot rice that arrives with crispy burnt rice at the bottom of the pot. Roast meats are served as a two-roast combo rice, and the Hong Kong-style dim sum includes beef brisket chungfun. Beyond those, the menu covers noodles, rice, side dishes, congee and desserts, and the kitchen makes its drinks by hand, including yuenyeung, a coffee-milk tea. Chilli oil comes on the side for anyone who wants extra heat. Payment is by cash, bank transfer or WeChat/Alipay only, so diners should plan how they will pay before arriving. The menu is printed in both Chinese and English.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the roast meats, especially the charsiu and the Two Roast Combo Rice with duck and pork belly, which one diner says tasted exactly like the version in Hong Kong. Close behind is the claypot rice, praised for the crispy burnt rice at the bottom of the pot. Dim sum draws repeated mentions too, notably the beef brisket cheung fun and pan fried buns, along with squid tentacles served with sweet chilli sauce. Drinks such as the White Moonlight and the yuenyeung coffee-milk tea also get named. Several call the food authentic and not too salty, and a few describe the portions and prices as good value. The main complaint comes from one reviewer whose roast duck and char sui combo arrived cold, with little meat on the duck. Another found the vegetarian dishes disappointing. One group of six was welcomed by staff who were very accommodating.

“The best place for Cantonese food in Glasgow. Excellent selection of noodles, rice, side dishes and their roast meats are delicious. Chilli oil available on the side. Nice, low-key atmosphere, and stills from Wong Kar-wai and Hou Hsiao-hsien films adorn the walls. Drinks menu has plenty, including yuenyeung 鴛鴦 coffee-milk tea. Pictured below was £39.40 without tip and generous portions. Will be back! Note: cash, bank transfer or WeChat/Alipay only.”

“A place where non vegetarians can definitely have a blast. The flavours are really good as explained by my friend. I didn’t enjoy my veg part, should have ordered other stuff but went on with my friends recommendation which I shouldn’t have, lol. He enjoyed to be honest. Being allergic to prawns was my only concern and my stomach got upset about something for sure. Overall a good place. People who love this cuisine should definitely try this place. Wouldn’t recommend for people having any kind of seafood or meat allergies.”

“The food was pretty authentic here in Canton Lane!!!!! We tired out the charsiu and it tasted exactly like the one in HK. Very very authentic! The clay pot rice was pretty good as well. Other dimsums were decent and yummy, especially the beef brisket chungfun, definitely worth a try!!! Would recommend visiting for sure!!!”

“Excited to try after seeing TikTok reviews of this place. Combo roast duck and char sui pork arrived cold, not much meat on the duck. Affordable but not in a rush to come back.”

“If you’re in Glasgow and craving real Hong Kong flavours, this West End spot is all about comfort food done right. Start simple — silky cheung fun, soft and freshly steamed. Then go for something bold like beef ho fun, packed with that smoky wok flavour everyone loves. Feeling hungry? The claypot rice is a must, rich, hearty, and perfect for a satisfying meal.”
