  “One of our favourite pubs in Folkestone. Food is always very decent. Service can sometimes be hit and miss especially when busy but it’s a regular go to when we have friends in town. They recently acquired downstairs of the former hotel next door which has a lovely more formal dining room and bar.”

  “Good location, great looking fresh menu. Between the family we had 3 fish n chips inc a gluten free option. Position sizes were decent, not sure if some of ours had been sitting on the hot plate for a while as it wasn’t piping hot. The bar was well stocked, the long man ipa and pale ale are worth a try.”

  “Fish and chips: I really didn't enjoy it. They fried the fish and the fries in old oil, so the fish and fries had a really bad flavor. A huge amount, but really bad flavor. My colleague had the seafood, and he said it was nice, but there could have been more seafood. I'm telling you, when you start eating healthy and no fake oil, your palate changes a lot. You cannot cope with junk food anymore.”

  “The pork belly is phenomenal. I’d have paid significantly more for that and been happy with it! Staff were friendly, made everything easy. Strongly recommend asking staff which menu items are the best choices as looking at the reviews, some are clearly better than others!”

  “We had a lovely meal & drinks Friday 30th May, the service was excellent the chef even gave us some of the amazing home made salad dressing to take home. We were visiting the UK from Australia for our Dads 80th birthday & this was a lovely goodbye meal. Thanks so much we will be back.”

  “Not a great experience at all. The restaurant seemed very disorganised. There were 7 of us dining and we had to wait before ordering, only to then be told the kitchen was closed. Food eventually came after a very long wait and it simply wasn’t good enough. Tough meat, oily food, delayed dishes, and missing sides. For the prices charged, I expected much better.”

  “Phenomenal! One of the best experiences in England is going to a small town local pub for fish & chips. Folkestone is certainly a small town on the English Channel. This place is what you'd hope for as an American visiting Kent. The fish and chips is next level. Probably one of the top 3 I've ever had in the entire world. It's wonderful! The atmosphere is cool, especially for an American. There is a nice fireplace, great ambiance, and it feels comfortable. I met Dan who works here, and a really friendly guy, who seemed genuinely engaged that I was enjoying the food and experience. The beer and wine selection is reasonable, and priced very fair! I love this place and will certainly return for lunch again. You can't miss with this place.”

  “Maybe because it was a very wet afternoon and everywhere appeared shut this was the only choice for lunch. Warm welcome from the lady behind the bar but then it went down hill. Took forever for my cup of tea to arrive, the prawns were tasteless and then the waiter, in a rush, spilt the finger bowl over us. The scotch egg was a better choice.”
