About Blackmarket
On Tontine Street in Folkestone, Blackmarket is a walk-in bar that combines drink service with casual dining, with the Street Fighter 2 arcade machine anchoring the room. The kitchen covers a short comfort menu of smash burgers, Korean chicken wings and Cajun fries, while the bar concentrates on draft options including Red Stripe and Local Whisper PA. Dogs are welcome inside, making the space a stop for anyone out with a pet. Orders are placed at the counter and the venue runs as a sit-down room without a separate booking system, so guests turn up and settle in. The arcade machine gives the bar a playful focal point that sets the tone alongside the bar food and the beer list.

“We’d been craving a good old-fashioned burger for a few days, and when we came across this cool place, we knew we wouldn’t be disappointed! The food was super delicious, juicy burgers, not too big, not too small, just the perfect size. And the fries on the side were delicious, too! The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly, and welcoming. We felt right at home, helped along by the awesome music they were playing. 🎶 Highly recommended! 🍔🤘🏻❤️”

“I've been living in Folkestone for a couple of months now and had heard so many good things about this place. It absolutely didn't disappoint. Without a doubt, the best burger I've had in Folkestone and that's coming from someone who's had plenty of great burgers in London/Ireland. We had both the chicken and beef burgers. The chicken was clearly made with really high-quality meat and was packed with flavour, while the beef burger was perfectly cooked, incredibly juicy, and seasoned exceptionally well. The Korean chicken wings were outstanding too super crunchy, coated generously in sauce, and loaded with toppings rather than just sprinkled on. Even the presentation was spot on. The Cajun fries were crispy, cooked perfectly, and covered generously in seasoning. We also had the Local Whisper PA, which paired beautifully with the food. The only tiny thing I'd suggest is adding a small milkshake to the menu but that's probably just because we're used to London burger places offering one! Overall, 11/10. Exceptional food, great value for the quality, and somewhere I'd happily recommend to anyone. We'll definitely be back.”
