About The Pullman

The Pullman is a pub and restaurant on Church Street in Folkestone, set in a building with an upstairs room, a main bar, and a garden terrace. Dogs are welcome in the bar and outside areas. Live music runs in the main bar, and orders are placed at the bar rather than at the table. A specials board sits alongside the main menu, and waits of 30 to 45 minutes for food have been reported. The kitchen stops serving Sunday Roasts around 8pm. An outdoor seating area is available, and smoking is allowed on the premises with ashtrays on the tables.

Customer Review Summary

Reviews split sharply: most praise the food and atmosphere, with diners singling out the chicken parmesan burger, specials board, and good beer and wine, alongside friendly, dog-friendly service. Others, however, report cold roasts, a missing Sunday Roast after 8pm, slow kitchen times, and frozen "chick'n" burgers with burnt buns and chips, plus an unstable table and a confrontational bar encounter over payment.

“I purchased a bottle of sauvignon and paid by card on the machine. Took the wine out into the garden and sat with my friend. Female bar person came up to me in the garden producing the card machine in front of me with an accusatory manner implying that I had avoided payment! At the bar I had tapped my card and assumed paid, it was up to her to check. Ultimately she embarrassed me in front of other customers and was not apologetic at all and implied that it was my fault! I felt extremely uncomfortable and relayed my feelings to the customer service girl on the door when I left.”

“Really lovely pub with a great atmosphere. The food was excellent – really well cooked, with some brilliant choices on the specials board as well as a great main menu. Good beer, nice wine and really friendly staff. Dog-friendly too, which is always a bonus for us. We had a great lunch here and would definitely recommend.”

“Everyone in our party was happy with their food. I went for that chicken parmesan burger. Chicken was cooked to perfection. 👌🏻”

“We ordered a roast top side beef and roast pork with apple sauce, it took 30 minutes to receive. Both meals came cold but the plates had been under a heat lamp. The roast pork didn't come with apple sauce, we asked a waiter for the apple sauce but told that they didn't have any. The pork had a strange taste to it. The roast potatoes came burnt and soggy and miniature in size, 1 whole potatoe cut into 4 small sizes ! Hardly any gravy on either roasts and for the price of £25 for each roast, it wasn't value for money. Young lad behind the bar serving drinks had a bad attitude.”
  • Chris Bowman
“Was ok... went for a work night out, lots of fried, geasy food. Confusion over whether it was starters or mains but it just all kept coming out and quite big servings. Quite a nice layout with an upstairs area and terrace and there was some live music down in the main bar area.”
