Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the staff, describing servers who are friendly, welcoming and attentive, explain each dish and what to order alongside it, and answer questions about ingredients and drinks. One gluten free diner describes being walked through the menu with the allergen matrix, and a vegetarian party says the kitchen looked after their dietary requirements, with pumpkin crackers offered in place of prawn. Close behind is the food. The pork belly panang curry is called the highlight of one visit, rich and creamy with a gentle heat, alongside prawn summer rolls and a Thai bubble tea with soft tapioca. Others praise the tom yum soup, fried aubergine, Thai red curry and cashew tofu pepper stir fry, and a Sunday unlimited curry deal with chicken or vegetable options for a group. Diners describe a relaxed atmosphere and food that arrived without a long wait. Small gestures recur: complimentary prawn crackers, a free drink from the manager, and a dessert on the house for a couple celebrating their engagement.

“I visited this lovely Thai restaurant while passing through Exeter last month, and I’m so glad I did! The gentleman who welcomed me at the door was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He recommended some dishes for me and even offered me a complimentary drink, which was absolutely delicious. I only found out later, when I was paying the bill, that he was actually the boss! The food was excellent too. I arrived feeling quite hungry and left feeling completely satisfied. Everything was delicious, and the whole experience felt so warm and welcoming. A big thank you to the wonderful boss and the team. I’ll definitely remember this place as one of the lovely little experiences from my trip to Cornwall and Exeter!”

“Our first time visiting Rosa Thai. The food was super tasty and didn’t take too long either! Alisha made it so memorable and special. She was super attentive and friendly, able to answer any questions we had and gave us great recommendations! I noticed that she was a great team leader and stepped up when the GM had to step away from service for a while.”

“Rosa’s Thai Exeter is one of those rare places that gets both the food and the experience consistently right. I had the prawn summer rolls, pork belly panang curry with jasmine rice, and a Thai bubble tea. Everything was genuinely excellent. The summer rolls were fresh and well-balanced, light but still flavourful, with that clean prawn-and-herb combination that works perfectly as a starter, a generous portion too! The pork belly panang curry was the highlight: rich, creamy, and aromatic with a deep coconut base with a gentle heat. The pork belly itself was soft and indulgent, rendered properly so it didn’t feel greasy, just luxurious. With jasmine rice, it was exactly the kind of dish you end up slowing down just to prolong. The Thai bubble tea was sweet but not cloying, whilst the tapioca was perfectly cooked pillowy soft and chewy all at once. What really stood out beyond the food was the service. I’m gluten free, and the staff took it seriously in a way that felt thorough rather than performative. They walked me through the menu properly, showed the allergen matrix, and explained everything in detail so there was zero guesswork. That level of clarity makes a real difference, especially when eating alone. it turned what could’ve been a slightly tedious or stressful decision into a completely relaxed experience. They were also consistently attentive without being intrusive, and the overall atmosphere felt comfortable and safe in a way that’s hard to quantify but easy to notice when it’s done well. Overall, it’s a place that combines strong, well-executed dishes with genuinely careful, informed service. A very reliable choice in Exeter if you want good Thai food and to feel properly looked after.”

“It was our first time of trying Thai food and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The server was amazing, very professional and friendly. Alisha went out of her way to make sure we knew what dishes were what and what we needed to accompany it. Very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and would definitely recommend going. Thank you Alisha for a pleasant evening x”

“I've eaten at Rosa's Thai Exeter a couple of times now and each time it has been absolutely fantastic. The staff are the best - so kind, welcoming and attentive - they really go the extra mile to make sure you have a lovely time. Oli was amazing, telling us about the origin of different dishes and the care that goes into preparing them. And the food is divine! We got a selection between us so tried a great variety, and every single plate was delicious! Plus plenty of options for all dietary requirements. Thank you Rosa's Thai - we will be back!”
