Quick info
About Two Children Coffee
Two Children Coffee is a coffee shop on Raeburn Pl in Edinburgh, open daily with no reservations, orders taken at the counter while queuing rather than from table menus. The scone case runs to a cheese and jalapeño version alongside the fruit scones, and the wider menu covers a Scottish breakfast with black pudding, haggis, bacon, sausages, grilled tomatoes, baked beans and potato scones, plus classic eggs on toast, chilli eggs, breakfast brioche, avocado toast and a breakfast sandwich. A date, banana, cocoa nibs and oat milk smoothie sits alongside the coffee and flat whites. Large front doors open fully onto the street, and the entrance is step-free for visitors with mobility needs. Outdoor seating is available for those who prefer to sit outside, and dogs are welcome at the tables.

Customer Review Summary
The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the Shrooms Toast eggs overdone and bland and the breakfast roll dry for the price. Another said the poppyseed loaf had an almost soapy taste and that the cocoa nibs clogged the smoothie straw. Others mention no menus on tables, so choosing happens while queuing, plus a busy weekend crowd and dogs underfoot, with food slower when the cafe fills.

“One hears a lot about the supposed superiority of certain areas of Edinburgh from certain Edinburgh acquaintances and 2 Children does seem to be from a better, brighter café future... For a full review including poetry, which I will likely never attempt again, cast your peepers over PickyManinaVan.”

“We stopped here for a drink a cake. The cafe is large and modern with sleek design. It’s quite artsy. The woman at the counter was friendly and cheerful. I got a date, banana, cocoa nibs & oat milk smoothie which I chose because I thought it was a little different. The smoothie was nice but it was difficult to drink with a straw because the nibs got stuck up the straw so I wasn’t able to sook anything up. I also grabbed a poppyseed loaf cake and a chocolate brownie. The cake had a nice texture but it did have an almost soapy taste so it wasn’t my favourite. The brownie was pretty good and tasted fine but I prefer a gooier texture. The value was reasonable.”

“Delicious food, friendly staff and goof service The place and atmosphere is 10/10 Would recommend the classic eggs on toast, their flat white is also delicious. Ps: Visited the place a second time, got the chilli eggs , veerrry delicious This would be my go to breakfast spot if i visit Edinburgh again. Staff are very lovely.”

“Great coffee, food was good- we had the jalapeño & cheddar scone, breakfast sandwich & the Avacado toast. Everything was tasty and the coffee was smooth.”

“The place is quite cute (though heaving on the weekend) and staff are quite nice - but the food was frankly below the expectations. For the Shrooms Toast the eggs were a bit overdone and though the mushrooms were not too bad everything was just a bit bland 😔 The breakfast roll (don’t have a pic) was also incredibly simple if not a bit dry - especially considered the price range.”
