About Roseburn Cafe
Breakfast drives the menu at Roseburn Cafe, a café and breakfast restaurant at 8 Roseburn Terrace in Edinburgh. The Scottish breakfast can be built to order, and items on the set menus can be swapped, so a plate comes together the way a customer wants it. Tea and coffee run alongside the food, including a caramel latte. The kitchen works in the greasy spoon style, and the room is a small one, run by a compact team with the owner working on site. Tables go on a walk-in basis rather than by reservation, so there is no need to book. A step-free entrance lets visitors with mobility needs come in without steps, and high chairs are kept for families with young children. The café trades daily, during daytime hours only.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast is the draw here, with reviewers repeatedly praising the Scottish breakfast and a cheesy omelette breakfast big enough to fill one up until lunch. Another loves the make your own breakfast option. Close behind is the staff, described again and again as friendly and kind, including patience when one party asked to swap items on the fixed menus and staff working as quickly as they could through a busy Saturday morning. Coffee and tea draw mostly good words, among them a caramel latte that actually tasted of caramel and a lovely cuppa, though one reviewer calls the coffee not great. Several mention reasonable prices and generous portions, and one notes cheap fish and chips but regrets that the cafe is not open in the evening. The space is called small and a few say it lacks atmosphere. The sharpest complaint comes from one reviewer who was served a bacon and tomato on toast with dry meat, bacon that seemed pre-cooked, an uncooked tomato and no gloves used during cooking, and who points to a sign saying customers get it the cook's way or not at all.

“Bacon and tomato on toast. £6 with a cup of tea. Bacon was badly cooked with dry meat and soft bacon suggesting that it was pre cooked ,no gloves were used during the cooking process and tomato was not cooked or offered any other way. I didn’t make a comment as the sign that says “this is not burger king you cannot have it your way, you get it my way or you don’t get the dam thing””

“Hommey, good coffee… Scottish breakfast a lot… worth to try”
