  “The Star Bar is such a welcoming place that includes everyone! It’s a proper pub with great drinks, proper crisps and scratchings, juke box, table football and live music too! I’m so glad it’s not changed and continues to be unique but welcoming in the New Town! We will definitely be back!!!”

  “We had a wonderful evening at The Star Bar while we were in Edinburgh. It’s a really interesting, atmospheric spot and in a beautiful part of Edinburgh. Gorgeous outdoor deck, funky clothing store underneath …. A real community and lots of happy people! Try it! 🤗”

  “This bar is very special, it’s been around since the 1800’s and I will definitely be going back more. I just moved to Edinburgh and I took myself out for the night with the hopes of making friends and I definitely found that at StarBar. The owner Bella is awesome and so welcoming, the music was class and it’s really a safe space for all. If you’re new to the city and looking to build your sense of community in Edinburgh you MUST go to Star Bar! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

  “This place really showed me the main quality of a British social establishment, the "public house"! I feel like the atmosphere, the cadence and overall feel of both the customers, the interior and of course the staff (Chris and Bella!) is something that makes me think its possible that a beverage serving place can be a sort of "pillar of community," which this place very obviously is. I have not seen or experienced such a deep connection between a bar and its environment, and I have worked in bartending for the last three years, including a place established in 1897. Don't change! Lifi lífið!”

  “Starbar has fast become our favourite spot in Edinburgh! The staff welcome you with open arms in a way that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. Special mention to Bella, who runs the place like the Duchess she is, always keeping an eye on everyone having a good time. She also has a treasure trove of vintage goodies in her shop downstairs that you can’t miss. Don’t go if you’re not prepared to lose at foosball!!!”

  “My mom stumbled upon this spot on a walk and promptly brought me back the next day. We both love a good little neighborhood dive, and this did not disappoint! Everyone – both patrons and staff – were absolutely lovely. Big shoutout to Bella who treated us with incredible kindness and good humor! We're now both big fans and can't wait to return upon our next trip to Edinburgh.”

  “This place is a hidden gem! I’m so glad I stumbled upon it. The service was excellent. People were awesome. Such a laid back and nice vibe. Total dive bar but comfortable and nice. They have a small bar, relaxing indoor seating area, and great outdoor patio with lots of seating. Bella was so welcoming. Highly recommend stopping in if chill is your vibe.”
