About The Hanover Tap
On Hanover St in Edinburgh, The Hanover Tap is a pub that pairs craft ales, craft ciders and cask ales with hand stretched pizzas and tapas. The main bar sits at ground level, while most of the seating is upstairs, and that is also where the dog-friendly seating mostly is, so dog owners can bring their pets along. Food is ordered through an app using table numbers. The menu also lists burgers, including a blue burger, and a boozy brunch with cocktails. TV screens show sport, and the pub has screened the World Darts Championship.

Customer Review Summary
Boozy brunch is the most frequent draw, with reviewers praising the cocktails, a burger (one calls the blue burger gorgeous) and pizzas with great crusts, and several call it great value for money. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly and attentive. Reviewers describe servers checking on tables and returning for the next round before glasses were empty, even for a party of thirteen. The craft beer range is also called great, though one reviewer found some a little pricey, and one group came every night of a trip to watch the World Darts Championship. Food draws more mixed comment. One diner found the wings crispy but received no ranch dip or Franks sauce as listed, despite paying for four extra dips, and said the macaroni cheese was about two spoonfuls for the price. In that visit the food also arrived before the drinks, which had to be chased. Another group sat outside and still weren't forgotten.

“My friends and I went for the boozy brunch. Holly was very attentive and friendly, she looked after us. Her and Devika made our cocktails which were great. We opted for pizzas which were lovely (great crusts). It was a little quieter with being a Monday afternoon but great value for money!”

“Average food but a trendy spot for a drink and to watch the sport that is also dog friendly. We ordered food on the app as suggested on the menu. The table numbers are not obvious enough so that took a moment to figure out. The menu has a great selection of wings, burgers, pizza and other American fast food related items. The food actually came before our drinks which had to be reminded about. The wings I’m not sure was a 1kg portion but maybe it was all the breaded coating which was nice and crispy! The ones we chose did say it came with Franks sauce (which I expected to be coated) and ranch dip which we didn’t seem to get. We paid extra for four additional dips but it seemed the ones it should have come with were therefore disregarded (we like our hot sauce). The macaroni cheese portion is quite crazy for the price as it was about two spoonfuls.”

“We arrived to be met by Lexi who showed us to our seats. The food arrived out so quickly and piping hot and absolutely delicious. There were three girls looking after us…we were a party of THIRTEEN. The girls looking after us were Lexi Holly and Anne. They were absolutely amazing. We were barely finished our drinks when the girls were beside us to take our order for another drink which was BRILLIANT..could not recommend The Hanover Tap more and I hope these three girls are on when you get here..! 😃”

“Came here for the boozy brunch it was well worth the money, had the burger and 6 cocktails. The staff were attentive shout out to Will, Dillon and Lex who served us they constantly checked on us and when they noticed our drinks were down they were over to see what ones we wanted to order next. Would definitely go again.”

“came in with my girlfriend at 4pm on a Friday afternoon, and the woman on the bar demanded to see id’s. Her language and demeanour was aggressive, but my girlfriend and i chose to comply. after requesting our IDs the woman served another group of girls (who look significantly younger than my gf and I). once the bartender returned m, she gave my girlfriend her ID back but momentarily keeps hold of mine. then the bartender asks for another form of ID, i was confused, my ID has never been questioned before, and i’m 20 years old (and i definitely look it). I told her my provisional was all i had on me, she then proceeded to ask for my bank details. To which my gf and i enquired why. We didn’t receive an adequate explanation. Keep in mind I am of Pakistani descent and look it. I comply and we were granted a table, but my gf and i decided we’d rather eat somewhere else, rather than lining the pockets of a micro-aggressive establishment. We later went back to speak to management and received further disrespect and an insincere apology.”
