  “I stopped in at the bar for a late night bite & mocktail. I got the BBQ Ox Cheek Spring Rolls & an Elderflower Mint Fizz, both were delicious! The bartender was very nice & friendly. I enjoyed the music that was playing & the atmosphere was laid back. I would recommend when in Edinburgh!”

  “We had a fantastic lunch at OX184 and will definitely be back. We enjoyed steak for our main course, along with cocktails and wine, and everything was excellent. Its really cool with am industrial vibe and a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere. We visited for lunch, but we could easily imagine it being a great place to meet friends for drinks in the evening too. What really made the experience stand out was the service. Our server was a fantastic young man who couldn't have done more for us. He happily tweaked our cocktails to suit our tastes and made sure throughout our meal that everything was just right. Nothing was too much trouble, and his friendly, genuine approach made the experience even more enjoyable. Booking through First Table made it even better. Receiving 50% off our food was amazing value, and it's a restaurant we probably wouldn't have tried otherwise. We're so glad we did because we had a wonderful meal in a great setting. Excellent food, brilliant service and fantastic value. We'd happily recommend both OX184 and First Table.”

  “Well, I asked the bartender for a caprinha since the liquer was on the shelf. She said they can’t do that even though I saw limes on peoples drinks. I then asked for a spicy margarita which I was presented an orange coupe drink that tasted like peppercorns and couldn’t finish. For the price hopefully this gets taken off the menu since it was so bad. Disappointed”

  “We went lateish on a monday night,(one of the very few places around with a kitchen open past 10) we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. Only downside as was a bit chaotic as there was only one waitress on for the entire place. She was trying her damndest, she kept a smile on and was a trooper a small error or two with out order but no biggy. Overall a great experience. Good value for the money, and very flavourful delicious food!”

  “Love this place so much. They were super duper busy when we arrived , but still a treated so well by the staff. There was some confusion because we were told to sit at the table but then after waiting like 20 minutes, they realized we never got a menu. He brought us two, but after reading it, someone who walked past us that we didn't see before told us it was bar service only. But then eventually the one guy came back and told us he would just take our order there. I think they were just super understaffed for the amount of business they were getting but I can tell they were working really hard to make everything work. Regardless, the food was AMAZING. I would go back for the Haggis bon bons if I could. Went for a late night dinner and has a beautiful time just enjoying being there.”

  “Not that great, unfortunately. The man behind the bar was really attentive, so the stars are purely for him. The place itself has some positives too — it serves food until 2am, which was useful as we went around 10pm after a show when most other places had stopped serving. There was lots of space, plenty of tables, nice drinks, and it felt like a better option than ending up in a takeaway. However, the food was really disappointing. We spent £57 on three drinks, a halloumi burger, chips, a spicy mix bag, and cauliflower wings with garlic sauce. The halloumi burger was actually nice, but everything else was awful — very fried, greasy, and far too salty. The chicken in the mix bag was over-fried, hard, and inedible. The food looked the part, but honestly it was so salty and greasy that I felt unwell, couldn’t finish my drink, and we ended up leaving most of the food and going home early. It’s a shame, because the venue has potential, but the food really let it down. Some music would also have helped the atmosphere, as it felt a bit flat.”

  “We went to OX184 in Edinburgh and had a really lovely evening. The atmosphere was great, a perfect mix of cosy and lively, ideal for relaxing and enjoying the night. We only had drinks, but they were really good and nicely prepared. Everything just felt right. The service was very friendly and attentive and we felt welcome from the start. I would definitely go back anytime and can highly recommend it!”
