About Dropkick Murphys

Dropkick Murphys is an Irish pub at 7 Merchant St in Edinburgh, where some cocktails arrive with lollies in them and jars of lollies make up part of the decor. The cocktail list is wide, so the lolly drinks sit among plenty of other choices. Live music comes first in the evening, followed by a DJ and a dance floor. Football decor and sports on TV run through the pub. A doorman works the entrance. Tables can be reserved, and groups sitting without a booking may be asked to move when a reservation arrives. Drinks at the bar can involve a wait at busy times.

Customer Review Summary

Staff draw split reactions. Some praise smiling bar staff and rapid service, but several reviewers report rudeness. One says a doorman told a solo woman standing away from the entrance that this is why no one likes Americans. Another describes a bar worker as rude, and a third says an owner acting as doorman let in people who could barely stand. One group, after 2.5 hours of spending, was handed a sheet of paper saying a reservation began one minute later, then moved to the crowded dance floor.

“The guy with glasses working on the bar last night should probably just be fired i’ve never encountered someone so rude. I made a google account just so i could express this. He was so bad☹️ i reckon we ether retrain him on how to work a bar or we just let him go, let me know how it goes, if you can🤝🏽”

“Horrible experience. One of the owners drunk acting like SIA licensed doorman. Letting people inside that can barely stand. His rude aggressive and has no clue what's he doing. Avoid if you want a decent night”

“Absolutely spot on pub. Every single night at this fine establishment is an absolute stomper. Let me tell you, the Guinness there is the best in the country without a doubt. Bar staff are absolutely brand new, always smiling and rapid service. I will be back tonight.”

“My partner took me to The ballet there; which I enjoyed ; when he mentioned the price of the tickets ; I thought the price was ridiculous. The actual theatre itself looked as if it could do with a whole new refurbishment ; the seats were so uncomfortable . The outside of the building looks so modern ; so I felt so let down with the actual theatre ; we watched the ballet in .”
