About Fu Sheng Restaurant

Fu Sheng Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant at 7-13 Station Rd in Edgware, running a traditional Cantonese and Hong Kong-style menu. The crispy skin chicken takes time to prepare, so it must be pre-ordered, and some other dishes follow the same rule. Duck pancakes work as a starter, and the sweet and sour pork follows the Chinese style rather than the British one. A set menu is available, and tea is served. The decor is plain, with no fancy styling. The restaurant is open Monday to Sunday except Tuesdays, when it is closed. It stands near a tube station, with parking nearby.

“A shame the staff couldn’t have been a little more forgiving when asking for small changes on the set menu - ‘not company policy’ didn’t make sense and was almost argumentative. The food was good, but refried starters a little hard. Overall ok but the atmosphere and attitude doesn’t make you hurry back. The staff really can make this type of establishment a hit or miss…..”

“OH THE TASTIEST CHINESE RESTAURANT!! we love a good Chinese but they're hard to come by. Fu Sheng is fresh, flavoursome and the staff are super lovely. We came here with our 2 kids and were very well looked after. If youre living in Edgware or the surrounding areas : we are very lucky! If youre living further you should DEFINATELY go out of your way for this place. We had duck pancakes, spring rolls and prawn toast (I hate when its too greasy) this was amazing. Thick bits of prawn inside too. Then pork and prawn soup, chilli chicken from the Specials, noodles and egg fried rice. So so sooooo good 😊”

With this high quality, the price is a bargains! My daughter is 4.5 years old The restaurant is kid friendly. She feels comfortable here.”

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers mostly come for authentic Cantonese-style cooking, and the sweet and sour pork is singled out as the real thing rather than the British version. Close behind are the hot dishes, including chilli chicken from the Specials and pork and prawn soup, along with starters like duck pancakes and prawn toast with thick pieces of prawn. Diners describe the food as fresh, flavoursome and well balanced in spice, and several call the prices reasonable. Service is repeatedly described as friendly, polite and quick, and one parent says their young daughter felt comfortable. The criticisms are specific. One reviewer thought the dim sum could pass and advises sticking to the hot dishes. Another found refried starters a little hard and described staff as almost argumentative when asked for small changes to the set menu, being told it was not company policy. A couple note the decor is plain, and one says the menu has little variety. Several mention that some dishes need pre-ordering, such as the crispy skin chicken.
