Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the riverside setting, with balcony seating and boats passing by described as beautiful and relaxing. Close behind is the bottomless brunch, which one group praises for high quality drinks and food that are not expensive for London. Sunday lunch also draws praise, with one diner calling the sirloin roast beef cooked to perfection and another saying the classic pub dishes are done right. A scallop starter is called nicely cooked, and one reviewer found the desserts better than the mains. Service is repeatedly called kind, friendly and efficient, even when the pub was busy. The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the food bland, received only one of two soft drinks, and got no birthday greeting with dessert despite noting the occasion on the booking. Another says the car park is run by a private operator and feels strict, with penalties that seem too easy to issue. One party recalls a server staying past the upstairs closing time to help bring out a birthday cake and sing along.

“Came here for Sunday lunch last weekend with my partner - absolutely incredible. I had the roast beef and he had the trio. Beef sirloin was cooked to perfection. The location is so nice to be by the water. Bar and wait staff all great and the food was fast, even though it was busy! Definitely coming back.”

“We booked a table for 8 people on Thursday evening to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it turned out to be a wonderful choice. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful, especially the riverside setting, the food was delicious, and having free parking was a great bonus. A special thank you to Jacob for his outstanding service. He was calm, honest, and genuinely took the time to help us choose our food and drinks without ever making us feel rushed. His recommendations were thoughtful and greatly appreciated. We’d also like to give a huge thank you to Anastasia. Even though the upstairs dining area was due to close at 10:30 pm, she kindly stayed until 11:00 pm to continue looking after us with a smile and never made us feel like we had to hurry. She also helped bring out my wife’s birthday cake and joined us in singing Happy Birthday, making the celebration feel even more special. Her kindness, warmth, and genuine care made a lasting impression on all of us. Jacob and Anastasia are truly valuable assets to Harts Boatyard. Thank you for making my wife’s birthday such a memorable evening. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be coming back!”

“We are absolutely delighted with our experience at Harts Boatyard Surbiton. Not only is the location beautiful and the atmosphere warm and inviting, but from the moment you walk through the door, you’re greeted with genuine smiles that make you feel instantly welcome. A special mention goes to our server, Jacob. He was the definition of a true gentleman—professional, attentive, and genuinely kind. It’s people like him who make all the difference and turn a great meal into a memorable experience. As a family, (and friends) we will definitely be returning. Highly recommended!”

“The atmosphere was great. The interior of the whole place looks really cozy and nice. We had a view of the river which my son enjoyed since we watched the boats passing by. My husband loved the music too because he prefers old classics. We were booked for 11:30am on a Sunday but the staff allowed us to have a seat inside the restaurant when we came a bit earlier. They were always checking on us which we appreciate. However, I had 2 orders of soft drinks but only one came. I just informed one of the staff just so they won't charge it on our bill. As for the food, the presentation was good. They all looked very appetising. Sadly, the food tasted bland. Maybe because we have an asian palate so we're used to tasting lots of spices and umami. Also, I was hoping to have a small gesture or greeting when they served the desserts for I noted on my reservation that it was my birthday. I've been to restaurants which did have something for the birthday celebrant. Maybe I just had some high expectations because the reviews of this place were generally positive. Nevertheless, the desserts tasted better than the mains. Overall, an average experience.”
