“Came here for dinner at 5pm or so on a Tuesday evening after a wander around Durham. We were seated right away with a slightly larger group size, and orders were taken promptly. Food was wholesome pub grub, impressed with the beer battered fish and chips, the braised steak and ale pie. Burger bun on the cheeseburger was a little too charred to be enjoyable. To be fair, we didn't complain so have no idea if it would have been fixed. Would return though, stunning views and outside dining.”

“We went there for lunch on bank holiday Monday. A beautiful old inn, well decorated keeping to the old country pub theme. The location felt very rural and out of the way, while not being difficult to get to. I had broccoli, mushroom and chicken pasta with garlic bread which was nice, but the sauce was too thin and watery. It definitely needed thickening or reduction. My partner had haggis and chicken stack and he was over the moon. Sid the haggis melted in his mouth. Overall, the service was good, not overbearing but attentive and friendly. Well worth a visit!”

“Unbelievable food..best fresh chips ever..food fresh tasty piping hot. This is a must visit if you are in the area..it's popularity was very apparent when we arrived at 1pm and it was packed. Staff very efficient and friendly. Menu has everything you could want on it. Also has rooms..will be back..”
