About Curry Pot Indian Takeaway

Cooking Indian dishes for collection and delivery, Curry Pot Indian Takeaway operates from Linburn Road in Dunfermline, open daily in the evenings. Orders can be booked for a set delivery time or picked up in person, so meals are built around eating at home. Lamb curries fill much of the card, in madras, dupiaza and korma form, and chicken dishes run alongside them, from tikka to bhuna, with Chicken Biryani among the rice-based plates. Main courses arrive without rice, so sides are ordered separately, and that list covers bhindi bhaji, tarka dahl and mushroom rice. Reservations are recommended if you want a specific slot. A step-free entrance keeps the shopfront usable for customers with mobility needs. The takeaway now runs under new ownership.

Customer Review Summary

Lamb dishes anchor the praise. One diner describes a lamb madras with mushroom rice as melt in the mouth in a hot, flavoursome sauce, and another singles out tender lamb korma with a mixed grill and fast delivery. Portions strike several as generous for the price, though one notes mains arrive without rice and a chilli lover who asked for the spiciest found it closer to medium, while still saying they would go back. The criticism is equally frequent and equally specific: one reviewer found every sauce sweet and thick, as though puréed from onion and carrot, with barely any pulses in the tarka dahl and most of the meal binned; another counted six small pieces of lamb in a dupiaza with practically no onions. One describes an early order for evening delivery that never came, marked delivered while staff later had no record of it. One reports a chicken bunha with some pieces raw and others blackened on the first night under new ownership, a change another reviewer credits with improving the place.

“The gentleman who served me (long hair in a middle parting, tied back, lovely smile) assured me their food was authentic. Bought takeaway last night. Chicken Tikka - nice texture but bland. Karahi Gosht, sweet. Side dishes: bhindi and tarka dahl. Was given a curry sauce for my Tikka! All sauces - and there was a lot of thick sauce in everything - was sweet. Tasted as if it was made with onions and carrots, puréed, with added spices. Very tiny slices of lady’s fingers in the Okra Bhindi Bhaji and hardly any pulses in the Tarka Dahl. I have thrown most of it away today. £7 for a side dish of mainly thick puréed sauce. Gentleman who served me was very convincing that all their food was very tasty. When will I learn that it is impossible to find a decent Indian restaurant or Indian takeaway in Scotland. Money, money, money is what it is all about. Sad but true. £38 down the drain (he said he deducted 10% off).”
