About Boardwalk Beach Club
Boardwalk Beach Club is a beachfront café and restaurant on the Firth of Forth promenade in Edinburgh, at 50 Marine Dr, with views across the beach. Jazz and opera musicians perform live on the terrace, which gives an outdoor seat a soundtrack as well as a view. The menu centres on toasties, burgers and hotdogs, and the soup arrives with a mini croissant in place of bread. Coffee, tea and soda are sold alongside ice cream and other snacks, with canned soft drinks such as Coke Zero and Fanta on offer. Food and drinks are handed over in takeaway cups, which suits eating along the promenade. The café is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Prices dominate the complaints, above all for canned soft drinks. Reviewers describe Coke Zero tins and a Fanta poured into a plastic cup, and two note the cans were marked as multipack not for separate sale. A soup and drink in takeaway cups with a mini croissant for bread also drew complaints. One reviewer describes a cheeseburger with cheese sauce and grey patties, no cutlery and filthy trays. Several fault the owner's replies to negative reviews, and one says a family asking for water was offered ice cubes. One reviewer reports being refused toilet use while seated with coffees and attributes it to their group being women of colour. Praise centres on the beach and Firth of Forth views, outdoor seating, jazz musicians and wee ice-creams. Loud Scotland football music on repeat is raised by two reviewers.

“The cheeseburger had horrendous cheese sauce instead of proper cheese, and two grey patties that barely looked like meat. No cutlery, filthy trays. Then some bloke was belting out opera in the middle of the terrace through massive speakers, while another guy wandered around him, loudly praising him with the strangest comments. Honestly, it felt like I was being filmed for some kind of prank show. Absolute madhouse.”

“Absolutely shocking prices for the abysmal quality of food provided, I have had better burgers/hotdogs from a burger van in a layby and was a fraction of the cost! Paying £5 for a Fanta which is served in a different plastic recipical with a plastic straw to which it originally came from. Not very eco friendly and more than likely to hide the fact they are still using "not for resale" multipack cans! After reading the reviews it prompted me to leave one and as for the owner leaving replies to other negatives reviews just shows that there is no desire from the owner for improvement at any level.”

“Stopped off here for some lunch and was very shocked by the prices. Got soup and a drink which cost £12.90 and was served in takeaway cups. The “bread” that was served with the soup was a mini croissant, which for the price is crazy. To make matters worse, they were playing very loud football music. Poor experience overall, would not recommend.”

“Absolutely avoid this café. If you're a person of colour, based on our experience, don't expect to be treated the same as other customers. We were sitting with our coffees directly in front of the staff, yet when one of us asked to use the toilet, we were told we weren't customers. When we explained we'd been seated there the entire time, the staff member changed his story but still refused to let her use it. Meanwhile, other customers were welcomed with smiles while our group of three brown women was treated with suspicion and disrespect. The coffee was overpriced and tasted awful, the café itself is tired and run down, and the customer service was appalling from start to finish. The only thing this place has going for it is its beach location. Spend your money somewhere that values all of its customers equally.”

“Love this place. My favourite cafe especially when the weather's nice. Really nice to chill by the Firth of Forth. Great views”
