About PiP Café and Community Room
PiP Café and Community Room is a cafe on St John Way in Dorchester, set in the Great Field next to a play park and sporting activities. The café is run by The Talk About Trust, a charity that helps and supports young people, and the space brings cafe style hot drinks, cake, and pastries such as croissants alongside breakfasts. The 18-item menu includes a milkshake made from a powder mix. Seating stretches both inside and outside, and well-behaved dogs are welcome throughout. It opens daily, giving regular access to hot drinks and food across the week. Sitting beside the park's play area and sporting activities, the café serves visitors making use of the wider Great Field alongside those stopping in for breakfast or cake.

Customer Review Summary
Coffee and cake draw most reviewers back, with several singling out the coffee itself as "really good" or "really nice" alongside cake and light lunches, and one visitor recalling breakfasts that "looked fantastic." The setting next to the Great Field and adventure playground comes up repeatedly as ideal for families and dogs while children play nearby. Staff are most often called friendly and helpful, though a few describe them as merely okay or working hard under busy, noisy conditions. Price draws pushback from one reviewer, who flags nearly £4 drinks, a 50p lactose-free surcharge, and a milkshake that was "just a powder mixup." Two more serious complaints stand out: one reviewer describes a chocolate milkshake tasting like soap, and another reports seeing a staff member handle clean cups with fingers inside them, calling it poor hygiene. Despite these, most visits close on praise for a simple coffee-and-cake stop paired with watching kids in the park.

“Poor hygiene, I was in the Que for food and drinks, until I noticed the pile of crockery stacked for cleaning and a member of staff, pick up clean cups, with his fingers inside the cups.”

“Visited here on a very wet and windy Saturday. Had coffee and cake but others of our party had breakfasts and they looked fantastic hope to return for the next kite festival let's hope the rain doesn't!”

“Expensive cafe, nearly £4 for drinks, lactose intolerant? That will be another 50p, Babchino nearly £2, little glass of milk nearly the same (50p for marshmallows), milkshake was fun, but it is just a powder mixup so bear that in mind when you hand over the credit card. Fun selection of dry cakes available to consume. Judging by how busy it was (and noisy sitting inside), people don't seem to mind the Poundberry prices. Staff were working hard, no beef there.”

“Lovely little place for a coffee/cake and a chit chat. Well behaved dogs welcome too. On the edge of a big field and a park to wear the kiddies out. Seating inside and out”

“We have been coming here since it opened and have always enjoyed the coffee, food and atmosphere. It’s run by The Talk About Trust which is a small focused charity which helps and supports young people. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful and it’s set in a lovely location in the Great Field, with sporting activities and excellent play park next door. Open every day except Mondays.”
