About Nikki's Little Play Cafe
Nikki's Little Play Cafe is an indoor playground and children's cafe on Pope Street in Dorchester, where adults and children visit on a walk-in basis. The soft play area lets children explore among a variety of toys, cars for riding, and dressing up and role-play resources, and a separate sensory room gives children a quieter space of their own. Comfortable seating for adults sits close to the play areas, with clear sight lines so parents and carers can watch children at all times. Light bites, coffees, and snacks for children are served on site, and outside food and drinks are not permitted under the venue's allergen policies. Booking can be made online with payment at the door, and birthday party packages with snacks are available for groups. Toilets are on site.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the soft play area and sensory room, along with the cars and dressing up resources, and describe staff as friendly and the space as exceptionally clean. Birthday parties get warm feedback, though one parent found the games, bubbles and cake unstructured. Another notes the allergen policy conflicts with food sold containing nut, dairy and wheat, and that the sensory room door risks young fingers.

“I took my little girl to Nikki’s Little Play Cafe for the first time this afternoon, and we were warmly greeted by a friendly member of staff called Hannah. The cafe has a really lovely, clean and relaxed atmosphere. My little girl was initially quite nervous and shy, however Hannah was really kind and helpful. My little girl built up so much confidence in her play session, and really loved playing with Hannah and the amazing variety of different toys. We can’t wait to come again 🩷”

“Lovely centre and very friendly staff, but the policies are a little contradictory - you can’t bring in food or drinks due to the allergen risk, but much of the food they sell has nut, dairy and wheat. Also, the sensory room door is a risk for young fingers to get hurt.”

“Just visited for the first time and we have had the best few hours of laughter and play possible. The staff member today was very helpful and attentative. The play areas are amazing with so much to offer. We are not normally a fan of places as such due to hygiene but Nikkis play cafe was exceptionally clean. I wore white socks and they came back white! Nothing felt grubby/dirty at all. Toilets and other facilities are clean and tidy also. We had some light bites and found it to be very good on price along with some coffees and other snacks for little ones. We will be back for sure! Thankyou for a great morning!”

“As a travel nanny I’ve been to lots of play cafes and centres and this was the most “organised”. I’ve been a teacher for many years before setting up my own childcare business and the place definitely has that OFSTED touch- not too busy on the eyes but busy enough that there’s something for everyone in clear areas. There was only one member of staff (12 customers -adults and children) I feel there should maybe be more incase there was an emergency. Toilets could have also done with the bins emptying (although they were exceptionally stocked with spares etc). Roxy (staff) gave EVERYTHING to get everything right for both adults and children; they had the energy any childcare manager could dream of for an employee- on the ball entertaining the little ones and always looking back to make sure any job was completed to a high standard. They made a great iced coffee , was a friendly face and is definitely an asset to the cafe! Booking was a challenge online (wouldn’t accept any means of me setting an account up) however it was easy enough to pay at the door. I also wish half days were offered e.g 9:30-12:30 and 13:00-16:00.”

“We recently booked this venue for my daughters 3rd Birthday party, it is a very welcoming place, clean , vibrant with lots of activities for children to enjoy, my only disappointment was that we didn’t feel the party was very structured and we did have to keep asking when the games and bubbles and cake would be happening I felt lacked clarity and wasn’t very organised for what you pay for other than that it is a fantastic place.”
