  “We were looking for a nice relaxing and lovely chilled out meal so we decided to head out a bit to The Marr Lodge pub for a lush Sunday carvery. £14 is really not bad at all and that can mean upto two from the 3 meats they had to offer. The stuffing balls were delicious. Food is very tasty and you can fill up as much as you want. I went with White Rat Pale Ale beer 🍺 also to go with, very nice indeed! We will come back again!”

  “My partner found a blonde hair in his food, certainly wasn't us as i myself have black hair and he has dark brown..i told one of the service staff in a low voice and said i work in a food establisment myself so i know things like this can happen. she said alright i'll tell her(meaning the chef as a guess) and took the blonde hair with her..the same person came out and carried on serving .no apology or anything. All we wanted was an apology that would've been enough..but she just brushed it off like it was normal.”

  “Really nice place. Staff are friendly. Went at 6.30 on a Friday night and wasn't too busy, got a table straight away without a reservation. I can see it being very popular on a weekend though. Food is standard pub grub served posh and is a bit pricey. But it was piping hot, decent portion sizes and tasted great. The carvery is advertised as daily but wasn't on tonight it didn't bother us though. This was our first visit, but it definitely won't be our last! Only down side to this visit that won't affect every one, we were sat underneath a very noisy air conditioning unit. EDIT - returned for a second visit July'26 (first visit May) to celebrate a birthday. We pre booked a table for 8. No problems on arrival, got seated straight away, but just minutes later we were told we only had the table for 1.5 hours. Luckily there was no queue at the bar to place our order! Waited about 20 minutes for food to arrive which, again, was lovely. However the Sunday menu is very limited and even more so for vegetarians. We ordered the adult desserts with about 45 minutes of our booking left (the child's dessert was ordered at the same time as our mains), we waited about 15 minutes for it to come out but no sign of the child's. We were reminded by the waitress that we had just 25-30 minutes left before we needed to vacate the table, so we told her we were still waiting on a dessert. 5 minutes later it still hadn't arrived. By this time the child was panicking that we would get kicked out before he had chance to eat so we asked again. It finally arrived with less than 15 minutes to spare. The child then rushed to eat, even though we tried to tell him not to, as he was still worried about the time. For this reason I have knocked a star off for service, but overall it was still a good meal.”

  “First time back after the refurbishment and unfortunately I have to say it was terrible had to wait over an hour for the food and then wow that was worse we were a party of 6 and not one of our meal were satisfactory from snotty eggs and fatty meat to microwave kids pizza which were tougher than old boot leather. Definitely won’t be back!!!!!”

  “4 of us went and had a Carvery. The food itself was very good my only gripe was that they only offered a choice of 2 meats, Pork or Gammon. The desserts were wonderful with a choice of 6.”

  “I’m not usually one to complain but the service we’ve just encountered was absolutely shocking. The chicken karaage starter was raw which was initially taken back and offered a replacement, which we declined as were put off. We asked if it could be refunded at the end of the meal which was then refused by staff as “it was due to colouring from marinating and being chicken thigh”. For 1 it was boneless and battered, 2 it was like pure pink jelly on the inside and 3 the waitresses face said it all when I initially showed it her. Unfortunately I didn’t get a photo as I didn’t think I’d need to evident it. And to top it off a member of our 20+ party overheard the staff saying “they can’t be doing with us”. Not to worry as I can assure you we certainly won’t be back.”

  “Lovely job on the refit work, feels very fresh. Staff were brilliant and very attentive. Food lets this place down though, I expected better but it just felt like it was all pre prepped and thrown in the fryer or on the grill. A smaller less complex menu might give the ability for the quality to be better.”

  “First time we’ve been, it was superb! The service was spot on, the atmosphere was gorgeous and the food was hot, fresh and super tasty! Will definitely be going back!”

  “Lovely refit with that modern old world trinket type of atmosphere Friendly and fast service Food was good too. The adults food was sublime, but the children's dishes were a bit of a disappointment compared to the quality of the adult dishes . I can't knock my steak sizzler though, that's the best looking steak I've had in a while. Delicious too”

  “My first time back at the Marr Lodge after its reopening! The service was quick and the staff were friendly. The renovations are beautiful and I am happy this venue was able to reopen. Unfortunately the food we had was not 5 stars, the chicken was uncooked with a jelly like consistency. I will add the staff were more than happy to replace the meal however the chicken was not much better on return (see picture attached).”
