  “We recently had my dad and step mum’s wedding reception at the Manvers Arms and honestly couldn’t have asked for better. From the initial booking right through to the wedding day itself, everything was handled brilliantly. Communication was excellent throughout, and they worked with us to create a menu package that was both very reasonably priced and exactly what we wanted. They even opened early on the day so we could decorate, which made such a difference and really showed how accommodating they were. The food and drink were absolutely top notch, and all of the staff were friendly, welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. Nothing was too much trouble, and they were incredibly flexible with a few menu changes on the day. A special mention to Becky, who was fantastic in helping organise everything with us, although every member of staff we dealt with was helpful and lovely. Thank you all for helping make such a special day run so smoothly — we would highly recommend the Manvers Arms for any event or celebration!”

  “We decided to try out the steak night... Waited at least 40 minutes for two rare steaks, one of which arrived medium with the driest of dauphinoise potatoes. I'm not sure why this took so long considering it wasn't particularly busy when we originally ordered. A complaint was made to the staff who granted did make attempts to rectify this which was appreciated, though we were not about to wait another 40 minutes for a free pudding. Unfortunately if a chef isnt able to cook a rare steak, then its generally not somewhere we'll be likely ro return to. The strange music choice that kept stopping halfway through & the children blaring tiktoks with fire alarm sounds from phones was also slightly off putting to say the least. It was real shame as we visited a couple years back & thoroughly enjoyed it at that point. (Having read some of the other low scoring reviews, I shall now await a sarcastic/unprofessional response from the manager...)”

  “Just had a surprise 60th party for my sister, they catered for 21 people. Bloody brilliant!!! I was back and fourth with emails they answered straight away, I changed times, food order, rang them… I must have got on ther nerves , food came out altogether, meals wer nice well presented. Garlic mushroom starter is a must. So tasty. The pub itself is welcoming, cosy. Staff are happy always smiling. What more can you ask for.. Thankyou from all of us xxxx”

  “We called here for a Sunday lunch, we have been various times before and on each occasion the food was fantastic, unfortunately on this occasion the food wasnt, maybe a one off, the yorkshire puddings were soggy, the meat was OK, but generally I was disappointed as we do like the place. Hopefully next time the food will be better and the heating will be on”

  “Oh my word, absolutely out of this world! Got the extra large carvery, biggest plate in South Yorkshire! Don't hold back with the meat! All soft melt in your mouth, whipped mash, crunchy veg and meaty gravy! What a place! Will deffinately be returning!”

  “Sunday dinner is great. I'd give it 4.5/5. The only annoying thing is that the stuffing used to be balls, and you could get more than one. If they did a steak pie option with the Sunday lunch, it gets a true 5/5. The main menu stuff on a weekday is also really good.”

  “I took my nan here for a birthday lunch. I liked the pub, it's quite a traditional style with plenty of parking outside which was handy. It has a good selection of food on the menu which makes it so hard to choose because it all sounds so great. It is really well priced as well. I must admit, we did wait an awfully long time for the food to come out. I think it was close to an hour before it eventually came out. However, the food was delicious. It also was an absolutely huge portion that I couldn't finish. To be honest, I don't think any of us managed to clear our plates. Unfortunately, my nan had a fall on the way out. I don't think it was the fault of the pub though, there wasn't anything for her to fall over. The staff were truly amazing, and tried their best to help that made a huge difference. My only criticism is that there are a few raised bits that my nan struggled to get her walker over, and where we were sat was really far from the disabled toilets. But I don't think that can be helped. Embarrassingly, in the heat of the moment with my nan falling, we all completely forgot to leave a tip! So we will definitely be back, and will definitely be tipping the great service.”

  “Really good home cooked food. I had cauliflower bhaji with pickle and raita, followed by haddock and chips in beer batter and it was totally delicious!!! The portions are huge as well. Definitely one to try. If I was being critical, only one type of red wine but otherwise absolutely superb.”
