  “⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I honestly can’t recommend this place enough. I’ve been coming here numerous times over the years, and every single time I visit, I leave loving it just as much as I did the time before. There’s something really special about this place. I absolutely love the quirky character and decor inside, as well as how beautifully everything is laid out outside. It has such a wonderful atmosphere and feels like somewhere you can truly relax and enjoy yourself. The staff are always amazing, and the food is honestly incredible absolutely chef’s kiss! 🤌🏼 I’ve tried so many different dishes from the menu over the years, and I’ve loved every one. There’s always something I want to try, and I’m never disappointed. Whether you’re visiting for a cocktail, a pint, or a meal, this place is genuinely a must-visit. It’s one of those places I’m always happy to return to, and I find myself recommending it to everyone. A special mention to the lovely Frankie (I think that was her name the blonde girl who served us), who was absolutely wonderful. She was so friendly, attentive and genuinely lovely, and her amazing service made our visit even more enjoyable. Thank you for yet another lovely experience. I’ll definitely be back again and again! ❤️ 5 stars every time! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

  “This is our local Tapas bar, we are regular visitors. The food is gorgeous, the staff are lovely, carefully trained by George, Becky and James. We cannot recommend it highly enough. Lots of different areas to sit, sports TV in some, sunny outside front sitting area. You feel like you are in Spain when the weather is good. Great range of beers and wines, great traditional Spanish/greek background music. Live music at least monthly. We feel at home here, then cycle home. Brilliant🥰”

  “Went with an international party of 17 colleagues in May 2026. Every dish (and there were more than just a few!) was excellent. Service was friendly, attentive and they literally didn't put a single foot wrong. Highlights were the lamb kleftico and brisket stifado, patatas bravas and adonis mountain potatoes. A little pushed for space upstairs but there were 17 of us!!”

  “We have now used The Old Yard Tapas Bar twice in the past 18 months to cater lunch for our board meetings, and the experience has been excellent on both occasions. Our board members are well travelled and come from various countries across Europe, so expectations are understandably high. After the first event, the feedback was so positive that they specifically requested the same catering again this year, which speaks volumes in itself. From start to finish, the service was seamless and professional. Communication in the lead up to the event was clear and efficient, and everything was delivered exactly as agreed. The presentation of the food was outstanding, with great attention to detail, and it created a real talking point among attendees. Most importantly, the quality of the food was exceptional. There were plenty of compliments throughout the meeting, and very little left over at the end, which is always a good sign. The variety and flavour of the dishes catered well to a diverse group, and everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. We would not hesitate to use The Old Yard Tapas Bar again for future events and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, high quality catering.”

  “Visited this tapas bar in Darlington today for lunch after not coming since last summer, and unfortunately we left feeling very disappointed indeed. We ordered two crispy chicken & chorizo cheese sauce wraps which were served with just 8 chips and the tiniest side salad we’ve ever seen. While the chips were very tasty, the wrap itself was bland and definitely not worth £17.50 each by any stretch of the imagination. Prices have clearly increased, but sadly the quality, portion size and value haven’t kept up. It’s a real shame as we used to visit regularly and always enjoyed our time here. On a positive note, the staff were lovely, friendly!and welcoming. Sadly, based on this visit, we wouldn’t rush back nor recommend it. We’ll be going to the Tapas Bar in Duke Street as our recent meal there was excellent.”

  “I booked the Tapas Bar on behalf of DarlingtonOS for our after show party. George, Chloe and all the staff were just brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. We ordered the buffet menu and there was an excellent choice of food and plenty of it. They catered for all people with dietary requirements, Veggie, Vegan and Gluten free. All who attended said they loved it, it was a great venue with atmosphere and they loved the food. I will certainly be booking again. Some are even going to book with family as they loved it so much. Thank You!”

  “Ventured out here last week. Highly recommended bait. The main guy serving was very attentive to make sure no vegan meals were confused or missed. Really easy way to order food. Took a little while to get drinks. Garlic bread 3/5: was a bit cold but excellent Patatas bravas 4/5: quality, I like a little bit more spice generally Meatballs 5/5: quality meat in a lovely sauce Garlic mushrooms 5/5: really tasty and moreish Vegan haloumi 3/5: a bit high priced for what it is. The boss liked it though. Potato skins with vegan chorizo 4/5: very impressive and a big portion Vegan chorizo 5/5: astounding this is vegan. Taste and textures exactly as chorizo, very impressive. Chicken wings: they’re chicken wings, spot on. Overall top tier and some good vegan options, definitely recommend. I would say it’s not the cheapest at around £7-10 a dish. This food and one drink cost £75”

  “Lots of different dishes to select from Tapas was a great way to try new foods and start conversations. Lots of drinks to choose from including mocktails. Toilets situated upstairs and are very small for anyone with mobility issues. Lovely friendly atmosphere, decor & music. Nice staff, fast service. The family thoroughly enjoyed our visit.”
