Customer Review Summary
Friendly, welcoming staff are the most repeated praise at this village pub, with one reviewer noting that every team member who came to the table was engaging. Close behind is the food, and the gluten-free options stand out, especially the gluten-free fish and chips, which one reviewer says is hard to find locally. The lamb shoulder is called cooked to perfection, with delicious potatoes and a cheesecake to follow, and a Sunday roast is described as lovely on repeat visits. Diners also single out the beautiful surroundings, with seating indoors and outdoors, and one family appreciated that dogs are welcome. Many are returning customers. The main dissent comes from a regular who found the staff like a new team of trainees and the food disappointing on one visit. Smaller notes mention soap marks on the glasses and a wish for a bit more gravy with the roast.

“The Hand & Trumpet is one of my favourite places to eat. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming, the food is consistently delicious and there’s such a lovely atmosphere. One of the biggest reasons I keep coming back is the fantastic choice of gluten-free options. It can be really difficult to find good gluten-free fish and chips locally, so when I’m in the mood for them, this is my place to go — and they are absolutely delicious! There’s also plenty of lovely seating both indoors and outdoors, so it’s just as nice on a sunny day as it is for a cosy meal inside. Great food, lovely surroundings and genuinely friendly staff. Always a pleasure to visit and somewhere I’m very happy to recommend. ❤️”

“Today was lovely! Went with a friend and it was just a lovely experience. The staff were friendly and happy to help. The food though. The food was INCREDIBLE. I had the lambs shoulder and whom ever is in that kitchen cooked it to perfection. The potato’s were delicious and then the cheesecake after was phenomenal. The glasses on the table needed a polish to get rid of the soap marks but besides that tiny complaint it was terrific and I shall return again. Thank you so much.”

“We have visited lots of times and always had a fabulous meal with great service. But not today, it was like being in a difference place. The staff are usually really friendly and professional but it was like they had a new team of trainees. The food was really disappointing too. A really disappointing visit”
