About 2022 - Plough Inn Bignall End

2022 - Plough Inn Bignall End pairs a village pub on Raven's Lane with an attached Indian curry restaurant, so the kitchen sends out restaurant-style curries in place of standard pub grub. The curry menu runs long, with a range of dishes and rice sides, and meals work for families and larger groups. The bar keeps beers, lagers and ciders on tap, including hand-pulled ales, for drinkers who come in without eating. New management has taken over, bringing a new chef into the kitchen and a refreshed interior. A step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance lets visitors with mobility needs get in without help, and dogs are welcome inside. Outdoor seating gives the option of eating and drinking in the open air. Reservations are recommended, particularly for the curry side. The pub opens Tuesday through Sunday and stays closed on Mondays.

Customer Review Summary

The curry draws the most attention here, with drinkers repeatedly describing the Indian food from the restaurant attached to the pub as restaurant standard rather than pub fayre, and one calling it the best curry they had had in a long time. Close behind is the ale, with several singling out the Hydes beers on hand pull and the locally brewed Plum Porter, plus a midweek beer and pie offer that one visitor took up with a chunk of pork pie and thirds of a pint. Also mentioned are a lamb shank that fell off the bone and arrived red hot, and the refurbishment under new management, with new carpets and upholstery and a room several found clean and tidy again. Staff are described as friendly and attentive throughout. One regular cautions that food service can be slow and suggests ordering at the table rather than the bar, and another notes smoking is not permitted in the pub area or the garden.

  • Andrew Tipple
“Now has a attached indian restaurant with great dishes. Best curry I've had in a long time.”
  • M H
“If you like decent ale & curry it’s well worth visiting this place, 3 Hydes beers on hand pull, which is unusual in the Potteries area plus our locally brewed Plum Porter. Current offer is £3.95 in the week. Good choice of lager and cider on tap too if that’s your thing. Moving onto the curry side of things, this is curry you’d find in a restaurant rather than pub fayre, and delicious it is too. Big menu and the prices are great. Order food at your table rather from the bar. Friendly service, although food service can be slow, so you may be ordering a few pints.”
  • Laura Ella
“Really lovely! The pub looks great, super pleasant staff and the Indian food was beautiful. We couldn’t believe 3 drinks and 3 curries with a side of rice each came to only £35! Bargain!! Can’t wait to come back.”
