Quick info
About Rookery Wood Farm
Rookery Wood Farm is a carvery pub on Weston Rd in Crewe, with an on-site soft play area that gives children somewhere to play during a family meal. The carvery counter serves meats with Yorkshire puddings, and bar service runs alongside it. A buffet breakfast puts out bacon, sausages, fried eggs, baked beans, hash browns and coffee. The pub is walk-in, so tables are taken as guests arrive rather than reserved. Carvery boxes are also sold through Too Good To Go, and one of them is vegetarian.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come back to the carvery, praising tender meats and massive Yorkshire puddings, with a weekday carvery described as cheaper and a Too Good To Go carvery box called great value that stayed hot on the way home. The staff come up nearly as often, with several describing friendly, welcoming servers, one who looked after a late-arriving couple as the carvery was closing, and another who chatted regularly with an elderly regular. Breakfast also earns praise, from hashbrowns and scrambled eggs to an all-you-can-eat buffet of bacon, sausages, fried eggs and baked beans. One family liked that the kids played in the soft play area while parents finished their meals, and that kids' meals were free with theirs. The complaints are small but specific: one diner found that not every carvery item was kept hot, and a lunchtime meal deal came with few fries and a small chocolate brownie, with no cream for the sponge. One reviewer was disappointed that dogs are not allowed, and another called it an old fashioned pub atmosphere rather than fine dining.

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic service – thank you Carla! We arrived at The Rookery in Crewe quite late, just as the team were cleaning down and closing the carvery. We fully expected that we might have been too late, but Carla was absolutely fantastic. Despite being at the end of what I’m sure had been a long shift, she went out of her way to make sure my husband and I were looked after. Nothing felt like too much trouble and, most importantly, we never felt as though we were an inconvenience for arriving so late. We were made to feel genuinely welcome, looked after and very happy. I’d also like to mention the manager on duty, whose name unfortunately I didn’t catch. They were equally welcoming and clearly helped create the lovely, customer-focused atmosphere we experienced. Great customer service really stands out when people go that extra mile when they don’t have to — and Carla certainly did that for us. Thank you Carla and the team at The Rookery. We’ll definitely be back! ❤️”

“For the price it's great! Don't expect a fine dinning experience it's more an old fashioned pub atmosphere and a carvery at a decent price. The staff are great, in fact I know they are great as my late father used to visit weekly for a carvery. He used to get treated nicely by the staff and always made time to chat to him, he loved going there. Thank you”

“This was my first time using Too Good To Go, and what a fantastic first experience! I ordered two carvery boxes – one vegetarian and one regular. I was served very quickly by Nick, who was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. He added the meat to the regular carvery box, asked if I would like Yorkshire puddings, then handed me the boxes and invited me to help myself to whatever I wanted. He also provided tubs for gravy and a bag to carry everything home, which was much appreciated. The food was absolutely delicious and still the perfect temperature when I got home. I honestly couldn’t believe the value for money! A huge thank you to Nick for making my first Too Good To Go experience such a positive one. His excellent customer service and friendly attitude are a real credit to Rookery Wood Farm. I will definitely be returning!”

“Had a lunchtime meal offer which was ok, not many fries but luckily i ordered a second gammon steak. Ordered a pigs in blanket in Yorkshire puddings, small was fair size. Lovrly large orange pop drink. Chocolate brownie with ice cream on the meal deal was small but the standard apple/blackberry sponge with custard. No cream available. No dogs allowed 😢”
