Quick info
About Rising Sun Inn
Rising Sun Inn is a Chef & Brewer pub restaurant on Middlewich Rd in Crewe, set on the countryside side of town and open to dogs. Children can make their own fruit sundaes, which gives families a dessert they put together themselves. The kitchen serves fish and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce, and the vegan options include a vegan wellington and a vegan frangipane dessert. A Sunday menu runs alongside the regular one. Staff provide table service in the dining area and check dishes against an allergen tablet. Tables can be booked online or by phone.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers mostly come for the refreshed menu after the refurbishment, and the signature burger is the most repeated favourite, one calling it a firm favourite. Close behind are crispy Korean chicken, burrata, the lamb duo, a camembert board and a homemade tiramisu, while a vegan diner calls the frangipane outstanding. Service is described as fast, welcoming and attentive, and families mention the children's menu, an allergen tablet brought to the table and an online allergy note that staff double checked. The fish and chips divides opinion. One reviewer calls it gorgeous, but two describe dark, soggy batter and fish that looked like it came from a frozen pack, one adding a half full jug of lukewarm curry sauce, the other saying a complaint to a staff member was never followed up. Others report limited menu and drink options during the final weekend before the closure, a toxic smell in the outside seating from the works, and a substitute vegan wellington that came out smaller than the turkey roast. One family finished by making their own fruit sundaes.

“Amazing food! I'm over from Australia visiting family and been here 3 times since visiting it's just too good! best pub in Crewe, great service, very clean, dog friendly, and they pour a good Guinness too! Highly recommend this place, even if you don't want to eat a nice sit down in the beer garden on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon is just bliss, lots of space añd can usually get a seat easy”

“Visited again after a recently refurbished. Food and drinks were tasty and not too expensive and the outside areas were busy, bathed in the sun and popular in the hot recent weather. We went on a voucher 2 mains for £20 brilliant value and we paid the difference to upgrade our meals, totally worth it. Well cooked and presented. We will revisit.”

“Ordered fish and chips. Wished l had taken a photo!!! It looked like a piece of fish out of a frozen food pack!! The batter was really dark brown and looked burnt!! It tasted “ok”. Had mushy peas with it which were fine , tiny, tiny piece of lemon and small portion of tartar sauce. I paid extra for curry sauce , small jug half full and only lukewarm!! Come on Rising Sun - you need to do better than this for the prices you are charging!!!! Will not be returning unless l see better reviews!!”

“Decided to call today to check out the recent refurb which was good. Sadly food wasn't. My steak was OK but wife had fish and chips the fish was rank. Batter was soggy and fish was brown. Complained to a tall young man clearing tables but he never came back to us so we left. Won't be rushing back!”
