Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the authentic South Indian and Sri Lankan cooking, with the Pomfret Fish Pollichathu singled out by one diner as the star of the meal for its flavour. Close behind are the chicken fried rice, called freshly prepared and generously portioned, and the dosa and uttapam. Also named as tasty or authentic are the veg kothu, Malabar parota, devil paneer starter and paneer tikka masala. A few mention filling portions and spices that stand out. Service is repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere as warm, calm and pleasant. One family says their kids always enjoy it. The criticism is less frequent but specific. One diner found the naan like a basic store-bought one and the paneer curry not fresh, called the staff unwelcoming, and had trouble even getting proper plates. Another noted slower kitchen turnaround at busier times. One reviewer with particular requirements describes two staff members taking the time to understand them and suggest suitable dishes.

“Extremely disappointing experience I visited Amma Kitchen in Coventry this evening for dinner, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing from the food to the service. The food tasted poor and, in my experience, some items did not seem properly cooked or freshly prepared. The naan in particular tasted like a basic store-bought naan rather than something freshly made in the restaurant. The paneer curry also did not taste fresh and was far below what I would expect from a restaurant. What made the experience even worse was the attitude of the staff. The hospitality was lacking, and even getting proper plates for the food was unnecessarily difficult. The overall service felt very unwelcoming. For what we paid, this was simply not worth the money. I genuinely regret choosing this place for dinner. There are plenty of Indian restaurants where you can get fresher food, better service and a much better overall experience. My honest recommendation: think twice before choosing this place. I would not return, and based on my experience today, I would not recommend it to others.”

“What a wonderful experience at Amma’s Kitchen! The ambience was absolutely beautiful—calm, cosy, and complemented by pleasant background music that made the whole dining experience so relaxing. The food was outstanding, but the star of the meal was definitely the Pomfret Fish Pollichathu. It was incredibly flavourful, perfectly cooked, and honestly one of the most mouth-watering fish dishes I’ve ever had. A special mention goes to Nadhiya, who provided exceptional service. She was so warm, friendly, and welcoming. She recommended the Pomfret Fish Pollichathu, and thanks to her recommendation, I got to enjoy one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had. She made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived, and it was a genuine pleasure talking to her. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable dining experience. I can’t wait to visit Amma’s Kitchen again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic, delicious food with outstanding hospitality!”
