About Panjabi Hut
Panjabi Hut is an Indian restaurant in Coventry, at 178 Clay Ln, that pairs vegetarian North Indian dishes with vegan pizzas given an Indian touch. The menu includes chole puri and a vegan thali for a full plate. Samosas arrive with chutney for a lighter order. Indian sweets are sold as well, so a meal can end with something from that range. The space is small, which suits a quick stop for a few dishes. The restaurant is open Monday to Sunday, except Tuesdays, when it is closed.

Customer Review Summary
Samosas are the draw reviewers raise most, with paneer samosas and samosa chaat singled out as excellent, and several say they are the ones they bring home for guests. Close behind are the chole puri, chana bhatura, paneer paratha and vegan thali, along with vegan pizzas with an Indian touch and a wide range of vegetarian North Indian food and sweets, which some describe as authentic, fresh and reasonably priced. The complaints are substantial, though. One reviewer says the samosas had no spices and were not fresh, another found the chutney bland, and a third felt the paneer filling seemed mixed with couscous. Several report rude staff who did not apologise. One describes laddoos that smelled of oil and were extremely sweet, another received old sweets for a large advance order, and a third says a mixed vegetable dish had clearly gone bad. One reviewer also recalls finding a hair in the food and being hung up on after phoning to complain. In the case of the vegetable dish, staff reluctantly swapped it for a different sabji.

“Very good food and authentic flavours. The dishes tasted fresh and well prepared, with generous portions and good value for the price. You can really tell the food is made with care and proper spices, not just rushed fast food. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick and efficient. The atmosphere is simple but comfortable, exactly what you expect from a place focused on good food. Overall a very pleasant experience. I would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for good Indian food.”

“Food is fine (if you are lucky it will taste good)and it’s take away only. They got good range of Indian sweets and food. Find their staff a bit rude Updated*** Bought mix vegetable from them clearly has gone bad and could smell it from far, went back to complain they reluctantly replaced it with some other sabji. Also do not buy sweets from them, smell of oil and even after giving them order in advance for 10-11 boxes (for our guests and they were not impressed, we were so ashamed) they packed old sweets which smelled bad and tasted worst, no point of complaining because they are rude and never apologise. Based on recent experiences would not recommend, just stick to samosa if you need to else go to Desi sweets, Birmingham (if you have time and craving very badly)”
