About Dylan's Conwy

Dylan's Conwy is a restaurant on High St, the main street of Conwy, with a first-floor terrace overlooking the 13th-century St Mary's Church and Castell Conwy. Drinking and dining areas sit on both the first and ground floors. The menu includes seafood chowder and mussels, and the tacos are made with fish, including a haddock taco and a fried sea bass taco served with grilled lemon on the side. A specials board changes the dishes on offer, and a brunch menu is available. A bakery and deli next door sells pastries, spices and sauces. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary

Seafood chowder is the dish diners name most, described as rich, creamy and full of flavour, and one reviewer who is not a seafood fan was won over after a server suggested it. Close behind are the fish tacos, a fried sea bass taco with grilled lemon and a haddock taco, both praised for perfectly cooked fish. Others single out the Korean chicken waffle burger, a chicken tikka calzone special, mussels, dressed crab on a crumpet, and a smashed New York Roll burger served in a croissant roll. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, welcoming and attentive, including towards a young son. The main complaint comes from one diner at an early evening sitting who was told crab nachos, lemon sole and then hake were all unavailable, while the specials board still listed them until a waitress wiped it as the steak arrived. Another notes the food took a while to come out. Several reviewers also visited the deli and bakery next door, buying sauces, spices and pastries such as a tiramisu maritozzo.

“Superb deli on the main street of Conwy. Popped in for brunch and was not disappointed. The New York Roll burger in particular was exceptional - smashed burger, bacon, cheese and gherkin served in a croissant roll. Delicious. Enjoyed the sauces so much we popped to their deli next door to purchase a few bottles. Fast service and chilled atmosphere.”

“If you're visiting Conwy Castle, don't forget to stop by Dylan's Restaurant—it's well worth a visit! I absolutely loved my experience here. Although I only tried a couple of dishes, everything I had was delicious. Despite visiting on a very hot day and the restaurant being extremely busy, it was clean, well maintained, and had a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were polite, attentive, and genuinely caring throughout my visit. To drink, I had the elderflower cooler, which was incredibly refreshing and perfect for the warm weather. For food, I tried the fried sea bass taco, served with grilled lemon on the side. Oh my—it was absolutely delicious! The fish was perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and this is probably one of my favourite dishes on Dylan's menu. I also ordered the seafood chowder, which was rich, creamy, and packed with fresh seafood. The quality and freshness of the seafood really elevated the dish, making it both comforting and full of flavour. Overall, Dylan's was a fantastic dining experience, with great food, excellent service, and a lovely atmosphere. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Conwy and would happily return the next time I'm in the area.”

“I’m sitting opposite the Specials Board, salivating at the thought of Crab Nachos followed by Lemon Sole. The waiter takes mine and my companion’s order, then returns a few minutes later to inform me that both of my choices are no longer available. OK I say, that’s somewhat surprising for 18.15pm early sitting, and would you kindly wipe those choices from the board. The waiter would not wipe the choices from the board. My companion moves opposite me, seeing that the sight of the incorrect board is bugging me. I chose Hake as a substitute from the main menu. Five minutes later the waiter, clearly nervous after the first episode, returned to tell me that Hake was off. So much for North Wales seafood specialities. OK, please can I have the Steak? Yes, that’s on the Brunch menu, would you like it with boiled or roast potatoes? NO, it’s on the Specials Board, and it comes with Chips! Look behind you. The steak, finally was great, and whilst I ate it, a waitress came and wiped pretty much the whole Specials Board. With the exception of a single dessert. I would have chosen it, but this place actually specialises in disappointment, so we went to a service station on the way home and had a very reliable and delicious Magnum.”

“Lovely place to get some lunch whilst visiting Conwy. The food was great, although it took a while for food to come out. However, all members of staff were so lovely and welcoming. Well worth a visit and also worth visiting the bakery attached next door. We bought some wonderful pastries and also bought some of the spices in the store too. We will definitely be back!!”

“As someone from Hong Kong who grew up eating fresh seafood, I’m usually quite cautious when ordering seafood in the UK. Too often, even in coastal towns, I’ve been disappointed—either the seafood is overcooked, poorly seasoned, or has that unpleasant fishy smell. I understand that some people consider that flavour to be normal, but from my experience, truly fresh seafood that’s handled and cooked properly should never taste fishy. This restaurant completely changed my expectations. Every seafood dish we ordered was incredibly fresh, with absolutely no fishy smell at all. You can really tell that great care goes into both sourcing the ingredients and preparing them. The balance of flavours was outstanding, allowing each ingredient to shine without overpowering the others. The cooking was spot on. The fish was perfectly cooked—moist, flaky and never dry. The mussels were plump instead of being overcooked and shrunk. Even the crab was cooked just right, remaining sweet and delicate without becoming dry or grainy. The haddock taco was such a creative surprise and worked brilliantly. Every dish felt thoughtfully designed, and the portion sizes were just right—you leave feeling satisfied rather than overly full. The presentation was beautiful, and each plate made you excited for the next bite. The staff were also incredibly welcoming, friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Finally, as a dog owner, I really appreciate that the restaurant is dog-friendly. Being able to enjoy such an amazing meal without having to leave my dog behind makes the experience even more special. Without a doubt, this is one of the best seafood meals I’ve had in the UK, and I’ll definitely be returning.”
