About Dutch Pancake House

Dutch Pancake House is a pancake restaurant in Conwy, set inside the grounds of Conwy Water Gardens, where a fishing lake, a small nature trail and an aquatic centre share the site. Dutch pancakes are the focus, in savoury and sweet versions and in two sizes, medium and larger. Savoury choices include ham, cheese and mushroom and an Indonesian pancake, while the Chocolate Pancake covers the sweet side. The 20-dish menu also runs to soup, paninis, omelettes, salads, breakfast options and ice-cream sundaes. For coeliac or wheat-allergy orders, the kitchen is shut down before the gluten-free pancakes are prepared. Dogs are welcome, and tables can be reserved. The trail has chickens, ducks and goats, and the aquatic shop next door sells bags of food for the animals.

Customer Review Summary

Dutch pancakes, sweet and savoury, are the main draw, and reviewers praise the wide choice and the two size options. A ham, cheese and mushroom pancake and an Indonesian pancake are named for their good portions, while others describe hot cherries and cream, lemon and sugar, and bacon and maple on plate-sized, European-style pancakes. The gluten-free version earns repeated praise as delicious, with the stretchy quality of a real pancake, and one reviewer says the kitchen is shut down to prepare coeliac orders. Close behind is the friendly service, with the chef and servers chatting to tables, and one reviewer describes excellent service for a friend who uses a wheelchair. An ice-cream sundae and a banana milkshake also get mentions. On the downside, one reviewer found the chocolate pancake disappointing, saying it tasted of cheap chocolate sauce, another did not enjoy their pancake, and one calls the price a bit steep for pancakes. Several end with a stroll round the free nature trail, feeding ducks and chickens with food bought from the aquatic shop.

“Absolutely loved this place! 🥰 So much so, me & hubby went in for lunch twice in the week we stayed in a nearby cottage. Absolutely scrummy Dutch pancakes, with lots of different savoury and sweet options, which is the main focus, but there are also other options of soup, paninis, omelettes, salads etc. Also breakfast options. Best of all for me personally, as I have a gluten intolerance, is that they also do the pancakes gluten-free! 🤗 Chef was also knowledgeable re:coeliacs/gluten intolerance, as he pointed out a couple of things I should avoid eating e.g. one of the types of sauce sachets and not to have a wafer with my ice-cream sundae ☺️ Noticed they also do a good range of veggie options too. I had a lovely banana milkshake on the first visit with my pancake and a nice ice-cream sundae for dessert the 2nd visit. There are also two size options for the pancakes. The waitress was lovely, polite and friendly, as was the chef. He even had a little chat with us, when thing's quietened down for a short while, and he came over to take our dessert order as the waitress was busy getting us more drinks. Although we didn't need to drive, noticed there is plenty of free parking onsite. There's also a lovely little nature trail onsite too which was free, with chickens, ducks and a couple of cute little goats. Plus there's an aquatic centre next door, that sells some gift thing's, outdoor plants, drinks, snacks etc alongside pond related items, fish and plants. Also a fishing lake onsite 🎣 🦈 This place is a lovely little tucked away gem in wonderful relaxing surroundings. Scrummy good value food, good range of options and lovely staff who provide a fantastic service with a smile! 😊 Deffo. recommend, and if we lived closer, I would visit regularly. Will definitely return in future though if we holiday in the area again ❤️”

“A real find off the beaten track but only a few minutes drive from the centre of Conwy. Well worth a visit and good value. Parking is easy and there is a small nature reserve on the same site. Delicious pancakes with amazing range of sweet and savoury choices. Definitely recommended.”

“Had a great time at the Dutch Pancake House! The pancake was super tasty—nice and crispy on the edges with loads of flavor. Loved the mix of veggies on it. Chill vibes and friendly staff too. Would definitely come back for another round!”
