About The Shed Cafe
The Shed Cafe is a cafe in Colchester, set on the Lanswood Park business park off Broomfield Road, where it serves the people who work there from an open kitchen. The menu keeps to simple choices, including a full English breakfast with mushrooms, bacon, butcher's sausages and eggs. Customers order and pay at the till, and the food is brought to the table. Condiments, sugar and cutlery are self-serve from a central spot by the wall. The space is small, with limited seating, and dogs are welcome. Parking is limited directly outside, and a larger visitor parking area is a short walk away.

Customer Review Summary
The full English breakfast is what reviewers return to most, with praise for slightly smoked bacon, butcher's sausages, fresh mushrooms and well cooked eggs, and several note the food arrives piping hot and quickly. Close behind is the friendly, welcoming staff, who one reviewer says offered different options when ordering. A packed prawn and mayo sandwich on granary bread and a custard tart also get a mention, and dogs are welcome with outdoor seating in the morning sun. The main trade-off is space. Reviewers describe limited seating and parking directly outside, and one says the small room gets very noisy because the kitchen is open. One reviewer found iced drinks a little pricier. One reviewer gave a low score, citing poor service despite great food. Condiments and cutlery sit by the wall for self-service, and workers' vans parked outside are taken by one reviewer as a sign of a good breakfast.

“Food is great, great prices although iced drinks are a little pricier. Service is brilliant and everyone is very friendly. Good seating and I imagine this is great for workers nearby.”

“Great food, it was all let down by poor service and the cafe was over run by flies, they where everywhere, by some fly nets for the door or something, its put us off returning.”

“Clearly the locals know about this little treasure but it's easily missed as you head down the A133. Whether you want a full English, a custard tart, or a chocolate bar and bottle of drink The Shed has it all. The breakfast uses quality ingredients cooked well. Slightly smoked bacon, butcher's sausages, fresh mushrooms, and well cooked eggs. The staff are very friendly, attentive, and helpful. Dogs are also welcome.”

“Enjoyed a packed prawn and mayo sandwich on high quality granary bread. Really nice and served with a very fresh salad. £3.80. No wonder it is so popular.”
