Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the decor, inside and out, calling it beautiful and stylish, with a secure outdoor play area for children and a dog friendly area also noted. The carvery is the most named dish, described as tasty and good, and a steak burger, steak pie, bread and butter pudding with custard, and jam roly poly are also singled out. Service splits. Several describe friendly, efficient staff, while others report slow service, food that took a long time to arrive, and bar staff who stood by ignoring a customer. The food draws the sharpest complaints. One diner found the liver and mash inedible, with tough, tasteless meat, and described a steak pie topped only with puff pastry and fish and chips on too small a plate. Another called a steak tiny, and one found the pints pricey. A few put the problems down to early days after the reopening. One birthday party was given a drink on the house.

“Came here for my birthday meal with four adults and two children and we had such a lovely evening. The staff were so accommodating, especially Sophie who gave a drink on the house for my birthday, and they couldn't do enough to help throughout the evening. Thank you very much and we will def be back x”

“We stayed a few nights here. When we parked in the carpark there was no sign saying reception which would have been handy as we were carrying suitcases and we went 2 other ways before we realised we had to go round to the main entrance. Staff were young and still learning the ropes. The room was nice. Lovely comfortable very large bed and really good pillows. A little kitchenette and it had a fridge which was very useful could do with some tea towels. There was a chair to sit in in the bay window but 2 chairs would have been much better to both watch the city go by. The shower door was slightly built into the eves so it didn't open very wide for the slightly larger person and also I recommend a door stop near the shower as the door handle does bang against the glass only a matter of time before it breaks. Tv reception a little flaky. Other than those little tweaks a good stay. All in would recommend”

“Large group for food. Service excellent all staff very happy and efficient. Carvery was good, but would pick something different on return. Playback good for the kids on a lovely day. Looking forward to trying more in the future.”

“Absolutely brilliant. We did book a table with it being Easter Sunday. Brilliant atmosphere. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive. I’ve read recent reviews and I wonder if the negative reviews were down to it being newly opened. We had an amazing dining experience and won’t hesitate in coming back. Three of us had the carvery which was very tasty. Another party member had the steak burger which again, very tasty. Four clean main plates and 3 clean dessert plates. Would definitely recommend.”
