Quick info
About The Brook Indian Gastro Pub
The Brook Indian Gastro Pub is an Indian gastro pub in Cambridge, on Brookfields, serving Hyderabadi dum biryani and Indo-Chinese dishes alongside live music and karaoke nights. The menu pairs Indian cooking with pub drinks, and the Indo-Chinese side includes Manchurian and Hakka-style noodles. Chilli chicken and chicken lollipops sit next to the biryani, and a weekend special menu runs separately. The drinks list covers a selection of beers, including a house brew. The building has a separate pub area and a restaurant dining area, so you can choose between a drink at the pub side and a full meal. Screens show football and rugby both inside and outside, which suits match days. Reservations are required. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Chilli chicken comes up most among reviewers, one calling it gorgeous, within an Indian menu that another diner rated the best pub food they'd had this year. Hyderabadi dum biryani and chicken lollipops are close behind, both called exceptional by one family, while the Indo-Chinese Manchurian and Hakka-style noodles were a hit at a catered birthday party. Others single out a mutton keema at medium heat and a nalli nihari with meat falling off the bone. On the pub side, reviewers mention a wide choice of beers, a lovely beer garden, and football or rugby on screens inside and out. The complaints are small. One reviewer found the basmati slightly overcooked, and another noted that goat curry was missing from the lunch menu despite being listed, with limited side dishes at lunchtime. Several describe staff who helped them choose drinks and mains, including one server who advised on which rice to order.

“Great food. However, no goat curry despite featuring on the lunch menu. Side dishes are limited at lunch time. Have no hesitation in recommending.”

“I came across this place and it immediately caught my attention because it’s a pub that also serves authentic Indian food. What makes it even more special is that they offer dishes you don’t usually find in Indian restaurants here, especially Indo-Chinese favourites. I contacted them for catering for my son’s birthday party, and Vamsi, who coordinated everything with me, was absolutely fantastic. He was incredibly friendly, quick to respond, and made the whole process so smooth and stress-free. From the first conversation to the delivery, everything was handled professionally and efficiently. The food arrived on time, was fresh, and tasted delicious. Our guests really enjoyed it, especially the Indo-Chinese dishes like the Manchurian and Hakka-style noodles, which are so hard to find done well here. They were a huge hit with everyone! A big thank you to Vamsi and the team for the excellent food, seamless catering service, and punctual delivery. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and will definitely be ordering from them again.”

“A hidden gem, one of the best places to get Indian food in Cambridge. Had a wonderful meal with good friends (who knew what to order) for a reasonable price. Service was also great, highly recommended!”

“Booked last minute, was able to get a table but in the pub area not restaurant/dining part. A decent selection of drinks, including a house brew, at a reasonable price (£11.20 for 2 pints of lager). Food was tasty and homemade. The chilli chicken in particular was gorgeous. Basmati rice was slightly overcooked imo, but the naan was excellent. Plenty of vegetarian/vegan options. Parking at the back of the pub and a lovely beer garden.”
