Quick info
About Bedouin
Bedouin is a North African restaurant at 98-100 Mill Rd in Cambridge, a short walk from the city centre and the train station. The dining room is styled like a Bedouin tent and furnished with carved wooden furniture, so the setting is part of the meal. The menu includes tagines, with vegetarian dishes and salads alongside them. The drinks list covers non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly squeezed juices, including the Ottoman, which blends apple, yogurt and cinnamon. Mint tea is served after the meal. Large groups dine here, though space for bags and coats is limited. Reservations are required, and walk-ins can expect a wait.

Customer Review Summary
Tagines draw the most praise at Bedouin, with reviewers naming the chicken tagine, a baked sea bass, a lamb shank one couple orders every visit, and a special of beef shtetha with saffron potatoes. Close behind are the mixed starters of houmous and dips served with fresh bread, plus prawn dishes such as the Crevettes Mchermla. Several single out the non-alcoholic cocktails and juices, including the Ottoman blend of apple, yogurt and cinnamon, and vegetarians describe plenty of choice. Diners call the atmosphere authentic and cozy, with one saying it feels like sitting in a Bedouin tent. The recurring trade-offs are small. One reviewer found the teapot leaked and spilled tea across the table, with no replacement or cleanup offered after the tea was forgotten. Another notes little space for bags and coats. Several say starters left no room for dessert, so they settled for mint tea instead, and one reviewer praises a caramelised fig tart.

“Came here with two friends for my birthday. The restaurant is situated in the Mill Road area of Cambridge. This makes parking naturally a bit difficult, but the restaurant is located a short walk from the city centre and the train station (which has parking). Atmosphere feels authentic. The seating is cozy but private. Booking in advance is a requirement. Walk-ins can expect a wait. We had the houmous, prawns, and feta as sharing starters. All great and the pitta bread was very fresh. For mains we had tagine and mocktails to drink which were both amazing. Service was great. They took our wet coats at the door, our waiter knew the menu and offered suggestions. Prices were not cheap, but reflected the quality of the food. Overall, one of the best restaurants in Cambridge. Will be returning again soon!”

“Bedouin is one of my favourite restaurants in Cambridge! Every time I visit I am amazed by how good the food is, how generous the portions are and how the non-alcoholic cocktails are some of the best anywhere. As a vegetarian there is plenty of choice and the mains are incredible - such unique dishes and the salads are so fresh. The atmosphere of the restaurant is wonderful- it genuinely does feel like you’re in a Bedouin tent. I often come with a large group and you’re never rushed; service is generally prompt and staff helpful. Really can’t rate this restaurant highly enough - it’s a local institution for a very good reason.”

“Great food and vibe, but service slipped at the end We had a lovely time overall at Bedouin! The food was delicious, and the authentic Middle Eastern/North African atmosphere made for a great experience. Everything was running smoothly until the end of our meal. We ordered a tea, which the staff unfortunately forgot to bring out. When it finally arrived, the teapot had a noticeable leak that spilled a significant amount of tea all over the table. We were a bit disappointed that the team didn't offer to replace the teapot or clean up the spill. It’s a wonderful place with fantastic food, but a little more attention to detail with the hot drinks service would make it perfect.”

“We had a wonderful evening at Bedouin last weekend. There were 9 of us so quite a large party but the service was so warm, friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious - we shared two lots of mixed starters which were fantastic including the beautiful bread accompanying them. We had a range of mains including the baked sea bass, chicken and various tagines. The vegetarian dishes looked beautiful and got the thumbs up for taste as well. We also sampled some of the non alcoholic cocktails which were so refreshing especially the Ottoman, a luscious blend of apple, yogurt and cinnamon. Unfortunately we didn't have room for desserts but we did have some delicious mint tea after dinner. I highly recommend Bedouin for wonderful food and a fantastic atmosphere.”
