About Liutaio Music Restaurant
Liutaio Music Restaurant is a dim sum restaurant in Cambridge, on Mill Rd, that pairs its meals with live music and an on-site shop selling instruments and antiques. Instruments and vintage wooden and Chinese decor fill the dining room, so diners can look over the stock while they eat. The menu runs from dim sum and dumplings, including pork and coriander dumplings, to a lotus salad. A large vegan and vegetarian section marks its options clearly, and a full vegan set menu can be shared across the table. The bar mixes cocktails and virgin cocktails, among them a Juzu & Honey drink, and the tea list includes milk bubble tea. Dishes arrive as sharing plates.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return mainly for the vegan dim sum and the set menus, which several describe as extensive and good value, with shared plates and the option to mix salads, mains and desserts between four people. Named favourites include the Japanese tofu curry, pork and coriander dumplings, cucumber salad, lotus salad and pork rib. Drinks draw close attention too, especially the rose green tea, the Juzu and Honey drink and a virgin cocktail, and one reviewer was impressed by the tea choices including milk bubble tea. Reviewers also describe the dining room as a vintage space full of instruments, with live music on Friday and Saturday evenings and items for sale. The main criticisms are specific: satay chicken arrived fried rather than grilled, the soup buns had thick skin that seemed frozen, and one notes the kitchen has only one steamer and one fryer. Several mention the venue was once cash only. Reviewers repeatedly describe the staff as friendly, one server explaining each tea and topping up cups as guests arrived at different times.

“We loved this place. We had the vegan menu, which is very extensive, great taste and very good value for menu. The service was well timed between the various dishes and very kind people. We will certainly come back!”

“Food is alright. The lotus salad and pork rib were nice, recommend. Satay chicken came as fried, which I expect to be grilled. Soup buns had thick skin, probably frozen food from the grocery. Great vibe. Service is nice.”

“I absolutely love this restaurant it is one of my favourites in Cambridge. They have so many vegan and vegetarian options. Would highly recommend! They now take card but used to just do cash. They are wheelchair accessible and have an accessible toilet. I would highly recommend here! Their dim sum are incredible. I've been here for both lunch and dinner and love it for both.”

“Love the atmosphere! Beautiful instruments, music and kind intelligent people surrounding you :) highly recommended. Especially - if you need something for your violin! Amazing selection of dumplings! Our toddler had a feast when choosing from all these options on a table! Highly recommend! *Cucumber salad is also the best!”

“Excellent service. Went on a Sunday afternoon so very quiet, food was excellent we had one vegan sharer and one meat sharer. The rose green tea was incredible. The restaurant is beautiful inside But the stand out was the service to us. The lady serving us who worked on Sunday 5th October (we arrived around 3.30pm). She is incredible and deserves a raise. Explained the teas to us, gave great recommendations, was patient as we all arrived at different times, even topped up our teas. Great value for money and interesting cocktails”
