Quick info
About King Street Brewhouse
King Street Brewhouse is a pub in Cambridge at 1 King St, with a micro-brewery on site that makes its own ales and lager. The beer range rotates, and the brewing setup is visible, so drinkers can see where the beer is made. In the kitchen, British tapas are smoked in-house and served alongside sharing platters. Mains cover pub classics, including fish and chips with battered haddock and a pie topped with mac and cheese. On Sundays the kitchen serves a roast with beef or chicken thighs, Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes. The pub spreads across multiple rooms with plenty of seating, and it runs on a walk-in basis.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the fish and chips, with one praising the tender fish and excellent chips and another the marinated haddock in a superb batter. Close behind is the in-house brewery, with its rotating selection of ales and lager and a wide beer range. Other named dishes include the curried lamb croissant, a mac and cheese topped pie, lamb chops with a bean and radish salad, fried aubergines, and slow-cooked pork belly. The Sunday roast earns praise for succulent chicken thighs, tender pink beef and good Yorkshire puddings. Several single out one friendly server for warm, attentive service, and the atmosphere is described as brilliant and lively on match nights. The caveats are modest: one reviewer finds food quality inconsistent depending on the dish, and notes slower service and small order mix-ups at peak times. Another was disappointed by whole roasted new potatoes and mushy peas on the roast, and one diner says a loud dog needed quieting. Several call prices fair, though one finds them high once drinks are added.

“Had a fantastic time here with friends! The food was excellent, the atmosphere was brilliant, and everything made for a really enjoyable visit. Kay was especially friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We all had a great time and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!”

“Went for the Sunday roast. It was good. The meat in particular was very well cooked. No bought-in pre-sliced meat here- succulent chicken thighs with crispy golden skin, and tender pink beef. The Yorkshire puddings were also very good and the roast carrots were fine. Two negatives- the potatoes were whole roasted new potatoes with skins on, and whilst this is preferable to bought-in frozen roast potatoes, it's still disappointing- proper crispy roast potatoes please. Secondly, the mushy peas have no business being part of a Sunday roast and should be restricted to being served with pies or fish, where they belong. Service was good. Prices reasonable.”

“We had an amazing experience here. Got the fish and chips and a couple of drinks for lunch. Prices are fair, Shawn was our waiter and very attentive and kind. Definitely would come back.”

“We walked around for quite a while before finding this place. One of the reasons we chose it was because they have their own brewery, and my husband really enjoys beer. We ordered drinks, along with starters and mains. The food was freshly prepared and of excellent quality. For starters, we had the fried aubergines and the slow-cooked pork belly, which was slightly spicy. For the main course, I had the fish and chips. The fish was tender, and the chips were excellent. My husband chose the lamb chops with a bean and radish salad, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, we had a lovely meal and would happily visit again.”

“A nice place we found in Cambridge, with great atmosphere on the night of the Arsenal versus Atletico match. We had the pleasure of having Kay as our helper, and we would like to thank her for her kindness. Food was very good, the drinks kept coming, all in all it was a pleasant evening for us.”
