About Golden Cross Hotel
Golden Cross Hotel is a pub in Bromsgrove, at 20 High St, that serves breakfast alongside comfort food. The morning menu includes eggs Benedict and dishes built around hash browns and eggs, so the kitchen covers breakfast as well as the rest of the food. Drinks are ordered at the bar, where guest ale is poured next to beer and other drinks, and the pub has a TV. It takes walk-ins. A car park with plenty of space gives drivers somewhere to leave the car, and a door staff member covers the entrance.

Customer Review Summary
Regulars return for the food and the atmosphere, with one reviewer calling the Eggs Benedict the best they have had, and several describing the food as tasty, excellent or spot on. Staff are called friendly and helpful, and one parent says a member of the bar team offered activity sheets to their autistic children. Reviewers who visit several times a week say the service is efficient, and a traveller breaking a long journey found it quick. The complaints concern accuracy, speed and temperature. One regular says a complete order has never arrived, with a missing beer, a burger without pickles and a fruit bowl without strawberries. Another waited for breakfast while later arrivals were served first, and a third reports food that still comes out stone cold. One reviewer describes a bar server as rude to several customers. A Mothers Day breakfast was hit by an egg shortage, with extra hash browns offered in place of eggs.

“We broke up a long journey from Bristol to Sheffield by parking in Bromsgrove and looking at the shops and calling at this Wetherspoons for a meal and drinks. Service was quick and we enjoyed our visit to this pub which is full of character. It is better than the average Wetherspoons.”

“We visit this Wetherspoon regularly, both during the week and at weekends. The food is always tasty and the atmosphere is nice, which is why we keep coming back. Unfortunately, I don't think we've ever had a complete order. Every visit something is missing – sometimes the beer we ordered, sometimes the pickles in the burger (and we were offered bacon or cheese instead... instead of pickles! 😂), and even the fruit bowl arrived without the strawberries. The staff are friendly, but sometimes they speak so quietly that we can't hear or understand them. It's a nice place with good food, but it really needs better organisation and attention to orders. With a few improvements, it could easily be a 5-star place.”

“I haven’t eaten in spoons for 7 years and nothing has changed. The food still comes out stone cold. I know it’s cheap and cheerful but it would be nice to have hot food”

“July 4th, 2026. Bar service by Kay was disgusting. Her whole attitude was rude, not only to myself but to a few others. No smile, no respect at all. However, Caroline was amazing. Service with a smile, very polite, nothing was too much. She offered activity sheets to my autistic children, and I believe she went above and beyond.”

“Very disappointing service. I waited 40 minutes for my breakfast order, while several customers who arrived after me were served before I was. Staffing levels appeared to be poor, but that doesn't excuse forgetting customers' orders or failing to serve them in the order they were placed. A simple update or apology would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, the experience left a very negative impression. Shameful service and not somewhere I would rush back to.”
