About The Gate at Bournheath
The Gate at Bournheath is an independent pub and restaurant in Bromsgrove, on Dodford Rd, and has traded since 1976. The kitchen focuses on Tex Mex, with a few standard pub dishes alongside it, including pies, fish and chips and burgers. Beer and gin are the drinks the pub specialises in. Customer Review Summary
The criticism comes mainly from a Sunday roast diner who found the roasts greasy and soggy, the carrots overcooked, the pigs in blankets overcooked, and the mint sauce watery. That table was missing roast potatoes and gravy, was never asked if everything was fine, and had to go to the counter, though the missing items arrived almost immediately. Another reviewer found the salmon a bit overcooked and asked for more care with how drinks were served, as glasses spilled onto others.

“Nice surroundings... The menu leans towards Mexican food, but a few standard dishes are available (pies, fish+chips, burgers etc)... Our food came fairly promptly after ordering (about 15 mins),but it wasn't busy... All in all very nice,we will be back...”

“Staff are super friendly and helpful, great dog friendly spot too. All the food was delicious and portion size was large, definitely worth the price tag.”

“Really enjoyed my visit. Being critical I would say the pigs in blankets were overcooked. Service was lacking. The food came out and I was missing roast potatoes and did not have enough gravy. At no point were we asked if everything was ok with the meal. I had to go to the counter to ask for this. Front of.house did send out gravy and roast potatoes almost immediately. I did notice every other table getting full service it was just us that had been left out which puzzled me. Unfortunately the roasts were greasy and soggy and the carrots were over cooked. The bill was just shy of £85.00, there was £27.00for the 4 pints of hawkstone. The reason I am being critical is at £23.00 each for the roast dinners I would expect a better service and better quality. The mint sauce was also very watery and the mustard was also very poor. On a positive note it has a very pleasant and modern interior. The food was nice but was let down by those few things. I think it needs improvement for the price point.”
