About The Italian Kitchen

On High St in Bristol, The Italian Kitchen serves Italian food daily. The Sunday roast offers lamb shanks or belly pork alongside Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese included in the price, and vegetables such as carrots and parsnips. During the week the kitchen turns out chicken bacon risotto and lasagna, with sticky toffee pudding for dessert. A lunchtime deal pairs a starter with a choice of pasta or pizza. High chairs are available for families with young children. The restaurant also accommodates large parties and celebrations, making it a workable choice for groups looking to book together. Reservations are recommended given the range of options across lunch and the Sunday menu.

Customer Review Summary

Sunday roast draws the most consistent praise, with reviewers repeatedly singling out lamb shanks, crispy roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, and yorkshire pudding, alongside a well-received sticky toffee pudding. Close behind, diners highlight the chicken bacon risotto, a lasagna called one of the best had, and a longtime regular's favorite, the linguine casa. Many describe the staff as friendly and attentive, the atmosphere as warm and lively even when busy, and note a lunchtime deal pairing starters with pasta or pizza as good value. A few experiences fall short of this pattern: one reviewer describes a Father's Day dinner with no air conditioning and only a single fan cooling the room, saying service suffered under the heat, while another recounts wrong drinks served, delayed and mixed-up courses, and a £24 service charge still applied despite the errors. Elsewhere, staff have accommodated dietary needs, with one reviewer noting the kitchen flagged beef stock in the gravy for religious reasons, and another mentioning leftovers boxed up to take home.

“My 1st time visiting this ever so popular restaurant. We had sunday lunch today and it was fabulous. Good service, polite and efficient. We had Roast Lamb and Chicken, excellent vegetables, cauliflower cheese not too creamy, with al dente cauliflower was lush. I also prefer my.roasties well cooked as these were and the yorkshire was excellent. The restaurant was super busy, great vibe whilst the owner kept everyone in check and working efficiently with lots of smiles, we will return 100%”

“The pasta linguine salmone was swimming in oil and the salmon was cooked, I had assumed as it said smoked salmon that it would be uncooked. Didn't like it at all. The waitresses were very good and there was live music so a nice ambience. Will try something else if I go again.”

“I’ve been in love with this place as a very well-known name in the Town because of it’s Italian taste specifically their pizzas are Italiano standards I will go again sometime soon Highly recommended staff very understandable. Recommended me the best of their restaurant.”

“21/6/2026 (Sun) Father's day - We were 8 persons, be there at 6.30pm, there was no aircon in such hot evenings, no proper ventilation, we were sweating throughout the entire dinner. Just only one cooling fan circulating different tables. What a terrible hot evening never been. The restaurant should have been warned us earlier, so that we could book another restaurant. The service manner from the restaurant was not expectedly good as normal guess due to the heat. Recommend to be there in the Winter time, and skip dine there when heat wave is coming this week.”

“Just visit the Italian Kitchen in Hanham and what a pleasant experience. Food, service and layout of the restaurant was excellent. Was personally greeted by the manager/owner and shown to our table, was recommend a bottle of red wine which was a nice red, food was absolutely amazing - high quality standard of food, presentation and flavour 10/10. Extra respect to the chef behind the kitchen area as he advised us that there was beef stock in the gravy which some of us don’t as part of the Sikh religion which was greatly appreciated - overall it is highly recommended if you are in the area !! Thank you Adi 🧑‍🍳 See you soon, and don’t forget the Pino Noir !! 😜”
