Customer Review Summary
Seafood platters draw the most mentions. Reviewers describe a hot seafood platter as fresh and delicious, another with fish and seafood alongside tartare sauce and garlic butter, and a Surf and Turf platter that left one diner doing a happy dance. Oysters come close behind, both cooked and Kilpatrick. Others praise a seared seabass small plate with samphire, smoked trout with peanuts, venison spring rolls with raspberry sauce, a medium rare dry aged sirloin, and a gnocchi in pesto that pleased a vegetarian guest. Several describe birthdays and family dinners, noting friendly, attentive staff and a large group with children handled in an organised way. The room is described as cozy and calm, and one couple returns every spring. One reviewer found the meal on the expensive side and did not understand an extra charge, guessing it was for the bread and butter placed on the table. Reviewers also mention the crisp white table linens and the birthday dessert plates brought to the table.

“So so so good. We had the Surf and Turf platter and Kilpatrick oysters. It's on the expensive side, and I still haven't fully understood the extra charge. I'm assuming it was for the bread and butter they put on the table. Other than that the food it just ao delicious. Every bite was fireworks in my mouth. I did a happy dance. It's so worth going, even if it's just once in your life.”

“English's really know how to cook fish - today a perfectly seared, delicate seabass small plate and samphire. My vegetarian guest and I both loved the gnocchi in a pungent and fresh pesto, with tender asparagus and little new potatoes. Always my favourite place to bring guests for the welcome and unique setting. See you again soon!”
