About Moksha Caffe
Moksha Caffe is an independent brunch restaurant on York Place in Brighton, open daily. The menu puts baklava pancakes next to eggs Benedict on sourdough, with ham hock, salmon and tofu variants for the filling. The ham hock Benedict comes served over hash browns. Shakshuka and chorizo hash sit alongside a full Moksha brekkie and a Garden Breakfast, so the savoury side of the menu is broad. On the drinks list, the pash and shoot blends mango, pineapple and passion fruit sorbet, and mimosas and lattes are available too. A gluten free menu is available on request, and the staff can advise on allergens. A wait for a table is common at weekends and on busy mornings.

Customer Review Summary
Hash browns come up most, with reviewers calling them soft inside and crunchy outside, and "to die for" alongside eggs benedict, whether salmon, ham hock on hash browns, or sourdough. The tofu benedict with its broccolini sauce draws praise, as do the shakshuka, garden breakfast, chorizo hash and baklava pancakes. Diners also mention a good cappuccino, a mimosa and an iced matcha strawberry. Reviewers describe friendly, helpful staff, and two gluten free diners say the allergen knowledge made them feel safe, with the gluten free menu handed over as soon as they mentioned the diet. One family says the kitchen made generous kids bacon sandwiches off menu. Queues are a recurring note, with a 20 minute line on a Monday morning and a small weekend queue outside. The sharpest complaint comes from one reviewer whose hash browns were undercooked inside and charged as extras, with overcooked poached eggs, soggy scrambled eggs, a vegetarian who felt disappointed and an orange juice they thought overpriced. Another reviewer called the food reasonably priced.

“Called in on a wet and drizzly Wednesday morning- we were warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. The menu looked delicious and we had to spend some time considering all the options- and there were many! We went for the Garden Breakfast and the Shakshuka with a side of hash browns! All of it was FANTASTIC and a good sized portion. Sophie did a great job of looking after us and as we had a GF intolerance, her knowledge of the allergens was second to none. We felt safe with what we were eating.”

“Loved this place. The perfect end to our stay in Brighton 👌 Had a bit of a wait for a table which was fine as it was a lovely day. And the wait was worth it! The waiting staff couldnt do enough and were extremely happy to help. Food was stunning, freshly prepared brunch. I had the eggs benedict with salmon and we cordered sides of hash browns that were to die for 👌 eggs cooked to perfection 👌 Had a mimosa and latte. Coffee was lush too. Water also provided on table. Everything was beautifully presented. The cafe was air-conditioned which was just perfect as it was a hot day. Would definitely return ❤️”

“Such a great cafe! Food was amazing and reasonably priced. We had the ham hock and baklava pancakes and both were delicious.”

“One vegetarian on our table of three. She felt quite disappointed by it. I wasnt asked how i wanted my eggs, my partners poached eggs were really overcooked. All of the hash browns were undercooked on the inside. We spent an extra £15 on our table to have 6 hashbrowns between us.. Perhaps hyping them as "our famous hash browns" means they have to live up to a standard. Not including them on the breakfasts feels a dlc system but for food? Micro transactiony that lead to £20 breakfast plates... They didnt ask in after we received our food to see if it was ok.. my scrambled was so wet it made the bread very soggy quite quickly. Overall an expensive, disappointing experience. Nice decoration and ambience doesnt undo poor food or service quality, and those are what matter most. Wouldn't return. £6 for an orange juice is also wild.”

“Been coming to Moksha for years now and I should have posted a review a lot sooner.... Big shout out to Zoe, she is amazing! Always an attentive service with a smile and she always remembers what you like. She's an incredible member of the team! We all want more hospitality staff like her in the world! The food is always made with quality ingredients and consistently well cooked! You know exactly what your getting if you go for your usual everytime! The menu has something for everyone, being a savoury or sweet breakfast/ brunch meal. The staff are all very helpful and knowledgeable the exact runnings of the place to a T. We always come back and would never go anywhere else! On the weekends there can be a small que outside. But the turnaround time for a table is easily within 5-15 mins. Highly recommend for friends, any locals or tourists staying in Brighton 😎😎😎”
