About Puro Gusto
Puro Gusto is a family-run Italian restaurant in Bournemouth town centre, at 11 Gervis Pl. The centrepiece is pasta finished at the table inside a wheel of Grana Padano, where the cheese is melted by blow torch and the pasta is mixed into it, so the dish is completed in front of the guest. The kitchen makes its pasta fresh in house, and the menu pairs Italian cooking with seafood, including squid ink pasta with seafood. Mussels with chorizo are on the starter list, and tiramisu is the dessert. Reservations are required. The owner comes out to greet guests and talk them through the dishes.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the fresh, house-made pasta, with the ragu named repeatedly, along with squid ink pasta with seafood and clam pasta. Diners also praise the mussels in chorizo, the scallop starter, the focaccia and the tiramisu. Several describe the pasta finished in a wheel of Grana Padano, melted with a blow torch at the table, as a memorable bit of theatre. Staff and the family running the restaurant are called friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, and one reviewer was guided to a Gavi by the waitress. The complaints are small. One reviewer wanted the pasta served hotter before it went into the cheese, another found the caprese and the ragu needed more seasoning, and a third said the menu descriptions did not match the ingredients they expected. One diner called it very reasonably priced. Several say they plan to return, and one mentions mopping up the mussel sauce with extra bread and oregano fries.

“Hidden gem. The scallop starter could have been served in a fine dining restaurant. Service is great and wines by the glass superior than in many more expensive places I’ve been to. It’s a typical Italian family run restaurant. Definitely would come back next time I’m in Bournemouth. If I lived here it would be a regular place I would go to.”

“Outstanding meal! Would highly recommend. Starter, main course and desert were all excellent. To start we have the focaccia as well as the mussels in chorizo, which was great as we used the extra bread to mop up the sauce. For mains I had squid ink pasta with seafood while my partner had clam pasta both were excellent. I also had some oregano fries which were again great for sauce mopping duties. Desert was tiramisu which again was lovely and so good we didn’t even get a picture. Highly recommend, and the staff and atmosphere were great”

“I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Absolutely incredible! The food was simply exquisite. Every single dish was bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Without a doubt, one of the best Italian meals I have ever had. The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere was lovely. I honestly can’t recommend this place enough. If you’re in Bournemouth, do yourself a favour and eat here. I’ll definitely be back! 🇮🇹🍝❤️”

“Really gorgeous food, attentive staff, perhaps more detail needed on the menus because what we ordered while it was lovely did not correspond to what we expected ingredients wise, but would fully recommend here for authentic Italian & seafood!”

“My husband and I booked this restaurant for a Saturday date night and it's some of the best Italian food we've had outside of Italy. The pasta is made fresh in house and was cooked to perfection, the mussels my husband had were delicious and bursting with flavour. The service, atmosphere and ambience was exceptional and the waitreseses were very attentive and incredibly friendly. I couldn't reccomend this place enough, we will definitely be back.”
