About Espresso Kitchen

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers return above all for the coffee, singling out an oat latte, an oat matcha latte, a double macchiato and a decaf one reviewer calls rare to find. Close behind is the welcome from the baristas, described as friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about their craft, with one reviewer noting they recognised the German roasters he buys from. Several mention a cosy, homely, community feel, with chess and other games on offer and strangers chatting. A slice of cake, smoothies and a range of teas also get a mention, and beans can be bought to take home. The main trade-off is size: reviewers call the shop tiny and tucked out of the way, and one says to be prepared to share a table. One suggests getting a spot upstairs, and another notes there is seating on both floors. One reviewer was so impressed that they brought friends back the next day.

“A brilliant independent espresso bar in Bournemouth. The staff are friendly, genuinely helpful, and very knowledgeable about their craft. We had a great conversation, and they even recognized the specific local roasters I buy from in Germany. They clearly put a lot of effort into sourcing, travelling internationally to find high-quality beans for their customers. The coffee is excellent, and it is definitely an independent business worth supporting.”

“We found this café on Google and decided to visit because of its impressive 4.8-star rating. When we arrived at around 3pm today, it was nice and quiet, and we were warmly welcomed by the barista. My husband ordered his usual oat latte, while I went for an oat matcha latte. We took a seat by the window bar and, just by listening to the way the barista was steaming the milk, I already had a feeling the drinks were going to be excellent—and I was right! The oat latte was incredible, and I could immediately tell that the matcha was ceremonial grade from its smooth, premium taste and vibrant flavour. We really enjoyed our little coffee catch-up while people-watching from the window. The atmosphere was cosy, peaceful, and relaxing—the perfect spot to slow down and enjoy a quality drink. We’ll definitely be back.”

“I found this place online when I was working in Bournemouth. I’m incredibly fussy about coffee, not only was it perfect but the barista was really friendly. It was a great way to start the day :)”

“I popped in for a coffee and a slice of cake, and I wasn’t disappointed. The coffee was good, and the cakes looked tempting — there’s a decent selection to choose from. The shop itself is on the small side, but there’s seating on both floors, so you’re more likely to find a spot than you might expect. They also offer smoothies and a variety of teas, so there’s something to suit most tastes. You can also have a take away if you wish. Well worth a visit if you’re passing.”

“Great little cafe with excellent coffee! It's tiny and tucked out of the way but a place with great personality instead of the big, bland chains. Highly recommended”
