Customer Review Summary
Chaat is the most frequent draw, with reviewers singling out the samosa chaat and dahi vada chaat as full of flavour, alongside dosas, gobi manchurian and lollipop chicken. Chai comes close behind, with the ginger chai called a highlight and the tea described as aromatic and served in pots big enough for three. Curries and chicken biryani get praise for authentic spicing and fluffy basmati, and several mention vegetarian options and friendly staff, including the owner. The complaints are specific. One diner found the dahi dish cold and covered in a very sweet sauce, and the butter chicken a thin, soupy bowl with five chunks of chicken. Another called the aloo paratha a thick chapati with hardly any stuffing, and the ginger tea watery with dry ginger powder. One reviewer wished the keema loaded fries had more chips, and another found the room noisy once many families with babies arrived. Reviewers also mention reasonable prices for the portions, and one warns about whole cardamom pods in the biryani.

“I got the somosa chaat, Dahi vada chaat, chicken biryani and keema loaded fries. I really enjoyed both the chaat and the chicken biryani has a nice sauce mix to it - just be careful of the elahchi that are in the food. Cooked like authentic Indian food The ratio of the keema and loaded fries could have been better with more chips, but overall the keema was still tasty. Lovely interior deco”

“Very disappointed. Expected much better. ⭐ 1/5 Saturday breakfast at Mr. Chaat ruined 👎 Ordered Aloo Paratha & Ginger Tea with my husband.Paratha was just a thick chapati with hardly any aloo stuffing, and the tea was watery with dry ginger powder instead of fresh ginger. Spoiled our Saturday morning.”

“Our First Visit to MR. Chaat Bolton – Definitely Not Our Last! We visited MR. Chaat in Bolton for the first time, and honestly, we had such a lovely experience! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming, lively and full of that proper desi vibe. The food was absolutely delicious – packed with flavour and tasting just like authentic desi food back home. It genuinely felt like having a little taste of India right here in Bolton! 🇮🇳✨ We tried the Butter Chicken, Chicken Karahi, Chicken Chow Mein and Masala Dosa, and everything was full of flavour and cooked beautifully. Every dish had its own delicious taste, and we really enjoyed every bite! And of course, we had to finish our meal with a proper desi chai ☕️. I have to say, even the chai was spot on – rich, tasty and exactly like the tea we would enjoy back home! A very special shout-out to Rida and Osama for their amazing service. They were both incredibly helpful, friendly and attentive throughout our visit, and really made us feel welcome.🤗👌👍🥰 Overall, we had a fantastic time at MR. Chaat. Great food, lovely atmosphere and excellent customer service. If you're looking for authentic, flavour-packed desi food in Bolton, this place is definitely worth visiting! We’ll definitely be coming back again! ❤️🌶️🍛”

“Food was absolutely fantastic, and they have excellent vegetarian options. Everything we ordered looked and tasted amazing, and the ginger chai was a real highlight. The overall experience was exceptional. The only minor issue was the atmosphere later on; it started getting quite noisy as a lot of families with babies arrived at the same time. Still a brilliant spot for Indian street food!”

“Food was well presented but sorely lacking in substance. The Dahi dish was COLD and bathed in some very sweet sauce and yellow sprinkles. I’m not a fan of anything sweet nor did I see on the menu any mention of sweet sauces. The butter chicken I thought was soup initially as It was a bowl of liquid 😵💫 with 5 chunks of chicken. Possibly the most bizarre butter chicken dish I’ve ever tasted. Price was to be expected given its central location. Not likely to return here.”
