Quick info
About Chapatti Hut
Chapatti Hut is an Indian takeaway at 276 Derby St in Bolton, open daily and built around the chapati. Fresh chapatis are made to stay soft, and frozen ones are sold for customers who want to stock up and warm them quickly. Rotis and naan are sold alongside them. Stored properly, the chapatis keep for days. The kitchen also takes large orders for weddings and other special events. Collection runs from a counter in a basic shop, and an order can be rung through first and picked up a few minutes later. The shop does not accept cash. Opening hours change during Ramadan, and the shop opens on both days of Eid.

Customer Review Summary
Soft chapattis that stay soft are the clear draw, with reviewers repeatedly saying they do not go hard the way ordinary takeaway ones do. Several describe them as thin, light and fluffy. Frozen bags come up often, including one reviewer who travels from Manchester to stock up monthly. Close behind are the rotis and naan, called generous in size and a good match for nihari, and a snack for kids with butter or Nutella. A few mention large orders for weddings and events handled with consistent quality. The shop itself is described as basic by one reviewer. One first-time customer reports waiting first in line while the woman serving took orders from several later arrivals, and describes the experience as discrimination before her own order was finally taken. Another reviewer suggests ringing an order through first and collecting a few minutes later, and one says the chapattis kept soft for up to five days when stored properly.

“I placed an order for 1pm at 12pm. I went at 12.45. I was first in the line. There was nobody there on the entrance to guide me or ask what i needed. When the lady came out of the kitchen, the shop was filled with men. The lady knew i was there first. She said can i take your order. I went to give her mine but one man interrupted me and so she took his instead. Then she same back and the same thing happened this time with another man. I said its me next ive been here first in the line. She ignored me and took his. This happened again before i created a bit of a fuss then she finally took mine and brought it out. I was not impressed. Theres clearly an issue with race and ethnicity as the other customers all looked indian. It was her fault as she was the shop keeper in addition to the customers for being rude. She should have told them to wait as i was there first and i placed my order justbas the shop opened in the afternoon. This was my first and last time to come here.”

“This roti shop serves some of the best rotis around, especially when piping hot and fresh. They also offer frozen options for convenience. However, it's inconvenient that they don't accept cash. The staff are friendly, but the shop itself is basic and not visually appealing. Overall, it's worth a visit for the delicious rotis, but don't expect a fancy experience.”
