About The White Horse
The White Horse is a pub in Bolton on Stitch-Mi-Lane, where dogs are welcome and a dart board and pool table sit alongside a 66-dish menu. The kitchen serves fish and chips and steak and ale pie. Sunday lunch brings a trio of roasts with crispy roast potatoes and a tall Yorkshire pudding with gravy. Several beers are available to choose from at the bar, and food comes out to the table through table service. The landlady serves and looks after customers herself. Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is the standout for diners. One describes a trio of roast meats, crispy roast potatoes, a tall Yorkshire pudding and gravy called the best they have had, and another praises a small Sunday lunch with decent roast potatoes. Close behind are fish and chips and steak and ale pie, described as fresh and hot, plus homemade-style cooking called full of flavour. Reviewers repeatedly mention good portions and food that beats what they expected for the price. They also point to a friendly landlady, quick service and a good choice of beers, with a dart board, pool table and beer garden noted. One couple marking an anniversary disagreed. They arrived expecting gastro pub quality after hearing of an award, but found food that seemed cooked from frozen and no better than Wetherspoons, though they found one staff member welcoming. Another visitor, drawn by an award in the local paper, arrived just before the kitchen closed. The landlady still agreed to serve food, and the meal came out soon after.

“GUS Reunion Tuesday 6th October. A fantastic evening. I would like to thank Piper, the barmaid for all her hard work, and the people working in the kitchen, too. Thank you 😊”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Had the most amazing food at The White Horse Pub, cooked by Lilly, and I honestly couldn’t fault it! 😍 Everything was absolutely delicious, beautifully cooked and full of flavour. You can really tell how much care and effort goes into the food. Lilly did an amazing job and deserves a huge shout-out! 👏🏼 If you’re looking for lovely homemade-style food, great quality and a proper tasty meal, I’d definitely recommend giving The White Horse a visit. We will definitely be back! ❤️🍽️”

“Been popping in for a good few years now. Very welcoming, staff are quick at serving and there’s always a great atmosphere. Quite a few beers to choose from and food is excellent. Dart board, pool table and beer garden at back and benches at the front. Really enjoy going in.”

“Visited the pub as we saw it got an award in the Bolton News. We arrived just before the kitchen closed, and despite the information provided online being outdated, the landlady (I assume) calmed our nerves and said she could still serve us food. The food came out 10-15 mins after, so we didn't need to wait long. The food was very good pub food, whole-heart stomach filling nosh. We thanked the chef as well for being patient with us - glad to see it brought a smile to his face. Would go again.”
