Customer Review Summary
Live music is the main draw at this Bolton town centre pub, with reviewers praising a very good guitarist and singer and regular performances, especially at weekends. Close behind are the drinks, described as reasonably priced with a large variety of beers, and the televisions showing live sports and news. Several mention the outdoor seating at the front, where drinks can be taken outside to watch Churchgate go by, and one singles out a fabulous back courtyard. One visitor found it a bit busy on a national saint's day, though everyone seemed to be having a good time. The crowd draws criticism from one reviewer, who says the bar has been taken over by an older clientele and is not for anyone under 50. Another complains that bar staff ask who is next instead of keeping track of the queue, so people who are not next claim the turn and keep coming back even after being challenged. One reviewer also credits the bouncers with calmly keeping a very drunk friend in check without escalating the situation.

“I have been here quite recently .I think that it is one of the best pubs . In Bolton centre. They have a very good tv on one of the walls where you can either watch sports or news or even talk. With friends. Also .if the weather is nice you can take your drinks outside and watch every body else on or near Churchgate.”

“One of the last great places in a failing town centre. Nice staff, great live music, reasonably priced drinks & an all round good atmosphere 😄”

“The bar staff said they don’t wash the ‘ sparklers’ every day ( she meant sprinklers on the beer pumps) for Bank Top pints. No wonder my pint looked like this after first sip. Second pic after few mins.”
