About Haidilao Hot Pot Birmingham (next to St. Martin's Church)

Haidilao Hot Pot Birmingham (next to St. Martin's Church) is a hot pot restaurant in Birmingham, at Unit SU333, where diners cook their own meal at the table. The Kung Fu Noodle show gives the meal a live element: a staff member hand-pulls and stretches noodles right at the table in a "dancing noodles" routine. The menu offers meats, seafood, vegetables and noodles to cook, with a choice of soup bases and sauces that diners customise, plus snacks and extra sauces. Birthday celebrations come with a decorated table, a photo taken by the staff and a happy birthday song. A robot delivers some dishes to the table. The dining room is large and modern with plenty of seating, and walk-ins may wait for a table.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often single out the staff, describing servers who are friendly and attentive, changed a soup base on request and diluted the spice when a table couldn't handle it. Close behind is the Kung Fu Noodle show, where noodles are hand-pulled and stretched at the table, alongside a robot that delivers food, which children loved. Reviewers call the broths rich and full of flavour, and the meat, vegetables and noodles fresh. Birthdays come up repeatedly, with a decorated table, a photo and a sung happy birthday. The restaurant is described as clean, modern and spacious. The main complaint comes from one reviewer who found only a single standard all-you-can-eat option with limited variety, and said nearly everything needed an extra charge, including a top-up for the more interesting soup bases and bottomless drinks limited to three choices. Another notes the bill for a family of four was not cheap, and one suggests booking ahead for weekends after waiting for a table. One diner received a flower for a Chinese Valentine's Day game win.

“How can I tell about the degree of my experience there! It was the top hotpot experience that I had in my life! If we consider I ate it all around the world, it means something. The taste was amazing, the staff was great too. Special thanks to Harley! It was Valentine’s Day in Chinese calendar, so they gave me flower. I won the game and they rewarded me. The cleanliness was amazing in terms of the kitchen, loo and everywhere. The best hotpot experience! Thank you🩵”

“The staff from the point of entering until leaving are so lovely and accommodating. The whole restaurant is so clean. There is even a robot that delivers food. And the food is spectacular. The meat, veg and noodles are all such good quality. The broths are so delicious and full of flavour. We also ordered thr KunFu noodles which come with a spectacular noodle dance. Since we came for a birthday, the table was decorated and the staff took our photo and sang us happy birthday. 100% would recommend for a beautiful celebration.”

“First time here. Neutral rating overall. Looking at past reviews, it seems like this place used to be better—did something change recently? To start with, the service was excellent. The venue is very spacious, and the temperature, space, and seating arrangements are all great. However, when I went, there was only one standard all-you-can-eat option available, with no option for the premium menu. The food variety was very limited (as shown in the photos). The quality wasn't bad, and it’s enough to fill you up, but you won't leave feeling particularly happy or satisfied. That's because almost everything—even the absolute basics—requires an extra charge, so the final bill turns out completely different from the price tag you see (though to be fair, they don't charge a 10% service fee). For example, even if you pay extra for bottomless drinks, you only get three options; anything else has to be bought separately. It's the same with the soup bases: all the interesting-sounding ones require a £5 top-up. On the bright side, the broth was actually very good—rich and full of flavor. It's basically the exact same greedy business tactic commonly seen in China: you buy VIP, but then you're pushed to upgrade to VVIP, VVVIP, VVVVIP, and so on. Every time you upgrade, you think you're finally getting what you paid for, but you never do. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience, but not a great one either. With all the add-ons, the final price could have easily gotten you an all-you-can-eat seafood hot pot nearby. Maybe ordering à la carte works out better, but I'd pass on the buffet menu.”

“We recently visited Haidilao Hot Pot Birmingham as a family of four (2 adults and 2 children), and overall it was a really enjoyable experience. The restaurant itself is very large, modern, and well laid out, with plenty of seating. I'd definitely recommend booking in advance, especially at weekends, as it gets very busy. We visited without a reservation and had to wait around 20 minutes for a table, which wasn't too bad considering how busy it was. The service was good overall, not exceptionally fast but not slow either. The staff were friendly, approachable, and happy to answer questions or make recommendations if you're unfamiliar with hot pot or unsure what to order. This was particularly helpful for first-time visitors. One of the highlights of the visit was the famous dancing noodles, where a member of staff hand-pulls and stretches the noodles right in front of your table. It was entertaining for both the adults and children and definitely adds something special to the dining experience. Another fun feature is that some of the food is delivered to your table by a robot, which the children loved. It's a nice touch and makes the experience feel a little different from your typical restaurant visit. The food itself was fresh and good quality, with a wide variety of meats, seafood, vegetables, noodles, and side dishes to choose from. The broth options were tasty, and being able to customise your own sauces adds to the experience. While the food was enjoyable, I wouldn't say it was exceptional or the best hot pot I've ever had, but it was certainly good and satisfying. For four of us, the total bill came to around £150+, so it's not the cheapest family meal out, but you're paying as much for the experience as the food itself. Overall, Haidilao Birmingham is worth visiting if you're looking for something a bit different. Between the dancing noodles, robot food delivery, interactive dining experience, and helpful staff, it's a fun place for families, friends, or special occasions. Just remember to book ahead if you're planning to visit at a busy time”
